Never posted this up in here, figured it fit the bill.

Traded my 700 Tactical for:

Sun Devil lower, Milspec single stage trigger and Magpul MIAD (large backstrap)
Generic upper, has a square mark on the right side above the assist
DD 16" 1:7 Gov't Profile Barrel
DD MK12-style gas block
EXO FailZero complete BCG + matched bolt

First added a Midwest Industries 15" SS Gen 1 handguard and used MBUS irons on it, as well as a Magpul ACS. Primarily used a stippled AFG2 up front. Eventually added some stippled KAC rail panels and a Surefire G2+VTAC Mount and a PWS FSC556. The large KAC panel I ran on the 12 oclock rail, and removed most of the ribs on it; I left the ones where my thumb wrapped over top as I liked the extra traction there. Eventually found a deal on some KAC 600m Irons (front and rear, not Micros, older) for cheap and picked those up. I went with several different flavors of glass, I had a Bushnell 10x mil-adjusted unit, then a 2005-vintage IOR 10x42 with MP8 reticle, then an EOTech 552, and eventually landed a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 MRAD. An Atlas V8.1 usually lives up front on it as well.

Then I went about changing a couple things. As it sits now:

Same upper, lower, barrel, gas block and original buffer assy. I installed, however now with:

KAC URX3.1
B5 SOPMOD with Battleline Industries SAPR
Magpul MIAD now with small backstrap

URX still has the same configuration as far as rail panels and light goes, just with some stippled XTM panels on the bottom and on the front rail sections. They give a little extra traction when shooting from supported standing which is nice. Waiting on some URX panels + handstop panel to show up for the sides and bottom, probably no AFG2 on this setup now.

With match grade ammo (69gr SMK) I've gotten as small as a .505" 5-round group (mind you with 10x mag). I won't write off the 77gr as not being as accurate, only because I feel the control here is the magnification I'm using, and I'd still like to shoot some with at least 10x mag before I say how this barrel REALLY likes/dislikes it. I'd attribute some of the results below to me not being 100% used to only 4x mag yet when trying to shoot for precision accuracy, but I feel the TMCQ reticle is capable of it.

Shows a below-average representation (in my opinion) of reman 77gr accuracy, but this was shot in a low light/dusk/sunset setting, which blew with the x24 objective:

With Black Hills 68gr:

With Southwest Ammo Run N Gun 69gr SMK:

Still want a Geiselle SD-C, a Surefire weapon light to accommodate a
pressure switch, a repeatable QD-suitable optic mount and an OPS Inc can, preferrably of the M4M flavor (keep weight/length down). I'll likely SBR this lower and run a 10.5" MK18 MOD0 (or very close) upper on it as well as this 16" upper.

In defense of 77gr SMK through this barrel, I shot these groups on Friday (11/02/2012). The wind was atrociously annoying and kept blowing the target stand over...The first image is a 3" sticky, bottom group there got raped by wind, and the other group got ruined by my jackass trigger finger slapping itself around on the first shot (the one ironically next to the diamond.)

The smallest stickies are 1" and the others are 2" for reference...(top right has 5 rounds, 2 of them stacked)

And a smidge of gratuitous stippling before my light source fell over and broke... :D

Nice looking stick. I have been thinking of upgrading the Larue rail that is on my SPR for one of the URX 3.1's I like the look of your rifle a lot, it has done nothing to protect my wallet from over spending.

Elaborate on the light source break, please.

VTACs and G2s are, to my knowledge, pretty good to go. If they cant stand up to a simple beating, let me know so I can stop recommending them.

Big negatory on the G2 failing, it was my photo taking light source. :D

I love the G2. I want to replace it on this carbine so I can have it to use as a handheld.

Nice purpose driven rifle. Good on ya!

How do you like that SAPR?

Also, what color(s) did you use on your rifle?

Thanks. The SAPR...

Pros: Adjustable to fit anything. I have had to tweak it so that it is the most comfortable for all styles/positions of shooting. The riser works awesome for using glass, especially considering the offset in the mount (almost 1.5" off the receiver). Makes it fantastically easy to have a solid consistent cheekweld every time, no hunting around for it (standing or prone).

Cons: The noticeable weight added to the back of the rifle. I don't find it too detrimental, it's just a departure from say a CTR or ACS or SOPMOD without the SAPR on it. It still balances well by me. Sometimes swinging the riser out of the way to manipulate the charging handle takes a little finesse, but not something I'm gonna nitpick about. 98%(guessing here :D) of the time I can get it moved in one fluid motion, the other 2% is because I grab it in the wrong place and it doesn't move nearly as easily.

As far as I'm concerned, the added value of how consistent I can be outweighs everything else, especially with the use of an optic and trying to shoot in a precision capacity.

Colors? Krylon OD green, tan, black and some grey I bought from a local store...that and the liberal application of such via big sponge...considered having it Cerakote'd/Duracoated in Foliage Green though...maybe some day...
