FYI, if you have been wanting a current production LE6920 with M4 style stock and "Colt's Law Enforcement Carbine" markings less the restricted language, they are back.

Do a search for model LE6920003

Edit: the wifey approved a spare 6920 to go with our 2009 LE Restricted marked version, so I'll post pictures when it comes in. It was priced the same as the current "M4" variety. $1,099.99 + tax from Gallery of Guns to my LGS

Edit2: Colt sure has been making a lot of 6920's the last 3 years. S/N is LE1775xx. That's an increase of 100,000 units by my math when looking at my 2009 S/N

No restriction markings = Not the "real" LE6920.

Tense is an understatement. We've got clowns wanting to know what color to paint their stupid gun, and we're staring down the barrel of a muslim shit sangwich.

Ordered whatever 6920 DSG Arms had. Doesn't matter to me in the least whether it says LE6920 or SP6920 since its the same rifle. A rollmark's just a rollmark.

You have what you have. If yours says SP6920, you don't have a LE6920. If it says LE6920, that is what you have. They are pretty close to the same thing.

Davidsons had 99+ of these this morning and ZERO this evening. I owe the wifey a big thank you.

What are the differences?

Based on my comparison of the ones I own, the new (Jul 12) LE6920 is identical to the SP6920 (Aug 11) except for the Rollmarks and the Rogers stock on the newer rifle.

The LE6920 arrived Thursday, everything was as expected. No real reason to post pictures. What I did find out is this configuration is nothing special. Colt has modified their product line recently for the law enforcement community. The M4 style stocked LE6920 is right on their web site.

I would like to point out that the rear fixed sling swivel is no longer included on the M4 style collapsible stock. I thought it was a manufacturing error, but a call to Colt confirmed all was correct.

I got mine the second week of July and it came with a Rogers stock and a QD sling swivel. Guess I got it at the right time.

My SP6920 is roll marked:
M4 Carbine
CAL 5.56 MM
SP XXXXXX

It is the 6920 MP-R TALO supposedly a limited edition with only 1500 produced. It ha s Magpul MOE butt stock, forward grip, hand guard, rear sight, 4 Magpul rail covers, IIRC and has a Colt marked Troy quad rail rather than the MOE or normal carbine hand guard.

Nice. Where'd you get it?

Mine is an SP. Standard issue 6920. It's a nice gun.

I got it at a small gun shop in Prescott Valley, AZ. I had been looking for another 6920 since I traded my LNIB LE6920 for a LNIB CL Noveske Afghan N4. I had never seen one like it before or since.

Stickman...no elaboration on your statement that the SP6920 and LE6920 are "pretty close to the same thing"?

Have we come to the conclusion that they are exactly the same other than the model number?

John Fritz

I did a fair amount of research regarding any difference between the SP and LE because when I purchased my SP there was a considerable difference in price between the two. At the time both models were readily available.

They're the same gun. Other than their identifying roll-marks. At least they were about one year ago when I did my analysis.

I wouldn't know if something has changed to make this no longer true with the current models.

Wonder why the "considerable" price difference then?

I don't think he's talking about the SP vs. the current LE. The LE6920 that was available prior to the SP6920 cost more, about $100-$200 on average, sometimes $300+, depending on the shop. The SP6920 was pretty much the same rifle as far as I know, but without the LE name and the 'LE/MIL/Export only' engraving that the earlier version had. The current LE appears to be inline with the SP price.

Well that's a pretty simple question to answer. Everyone (well, almost everyone) wanted the LE roll mark instead of the pussy Sporter designation.

Supply/Demand.

Wasn't worth two hundred bucks to me.

Oh, and at the time there was talk about the 6920 being sold to us lowly civilian-types as a Sporter model forever after. So the prevailing thought with some folks was that the current (at the time) inventory was going to be the end of the rifles with the LE marks. So there's that.

Ironically, looks like the Sporter is the version with the discontinued roll mark.

I bought my latest 6920 this weekend from my local, fairly high volume dealer. It is a "Sporter", with the "SP" serial and Rogers stock (which I like).
I was in our local Wal-Mart the next day, and they have an "LE" numbered 6920 in stock, w/o the Rogers.
Colt confuses me, but I don't care about the rollmark, if the carbine is the same.

SP...LE.. Only difference. The roll marks that is. Same gun whether it says SP or LE. This forum has made a mountain out of a moll hill. Is it important outside this forum? Does anyone go around the range looking at roll marks? Do you sleep better at night knowing your 6920 says LE, or do you sleep better knowing that there is a Colt 6920 in your safe?
