Converting SR-15 URX2 to URX 3.1 and OPS Inc Host?

Would I be a complete idiot trying to take my existing SR-15-E3 with the URX 2 handguard, sending it somewhere like ADCO and having that barrel modified to become an OPS Inc brake/collar host, and then installing the URX 3.1 on it?

Or for the cost, would I just be money ahead getting an HCS or MSTN upper with an already stepped barrel and URX 3.1/MUR upper?

Factory built things tend to carry the most value in the aftermarket. That being the case, I wouldn't split apart a factory built upper unless there was a pressing need to. If you have the means to buy another upper, that is the route I would go.
