View Full Version : Did anyone else buy a gun on election day - I did!

Yes today I bought a Ruger Mark III 22/45 with threaded barrel and adjustable rear sights and Hogue grips. Haven't shot it yet but took it home and lubed. It came with with a flash protector and a seperate thread protector but not sure how necessary the flash suppressor is on a .22. Paid $359 + tax new.

This wasn't an election day impulse buy I just "needed" a .22 semi auto pistol - plan to use in .22 2 gun fun competitions and get a can for it. Kept looking at this / reading reviews about the Ruger Mark III 22/45 and the BuckMark and the Advantage Arms Glock conversion kit and decided the Ruger fit what I wanted with accuracy and reliability. Will see how it shoots this week.

Not to rain on your parade, but someone already started a thread exactly like this one.

yeah but he bought a garbage RRA AR and he bought it due to uncertainty with the election. I think both his choice and his reasoning were poorly thought out so I wasn't going to bury my topic in that drivel.

I've got the same gun minus the adjustable sights and grips. It's a great gun, shoots very well. I can't wait to get my suppressor out of jail and really have some fun with it. If your so inclined it's pretty easy to take out the magazine disconnect and it makes field stripping a bit easier and allows the mags to drop free.

On topic, I bought a M&P 9 FS today. Also not election related ;)

Ordered a backup LE6920 from Gallery Of Guns Tuesday morning. Should be at my LGS Friday.

FWIW, Colt has a run of 6920's with M4 style stocks and "Colt's Law Enforcement Carbine" roll mark.

I put a SS Ruger 10/22 on layaway. My brother left my old Winchester out in his damp garage and it rusted solid so I needed a good reliable .22 LR. I will have it by the end of Nov. My brother no longer bothers to ask to borrow ANYTHING!

I picked up my Remington 870P from the FFL yesterday and then bought a bunch of 12g rounds for it. I have a case of 9mm arriving today from Palmetto and I ordered AR, G22 and G19 mags as well. Everything should be here by the middle of next week.

I will place an order for a 10 pack of Magpul magazines and a 3 pack of Wilson ETM 1911 magazines.

A sad day. Stock up on guns and ammo because they're coming after it.

I bought a 10/22 on Monday, just because it was a good deal and out of all the guns I own, I didn't own a .22.

If I had the money to buy a gun, the election wouldn't have mattered as much. The problem was that the election was about being able to afford a gun. Now I'm back to figuring a way to buy before I can't. Basically, I can't afford to buy but I can't afford not to buy!

I bought a complete Colt lower and a batch of 20 USGI mags. I had planned on buying more mags anyway and a deal in them came up. The purchase of the Colt lower was planned as well and just waiting for them to come back in stock and for "gun funds" to free up.

I pick up my full size M&P 40 today. Not election related, because I bought it as a backup to my Dept. issued M&P. This will be my new nightstand gun.

No, but I did buy my first AR (LMT) several years ago on Earth Day. Coincidence, since that's the day it arrived at my LGS, but I drove home with it and chuckled a bit about my Earth Day effort to improve my carbon footprint.

They wont get them. Republicans have the house nothing is going to get passwd that will take our guns away. He may try his best but I truly do not see anyti g happening. He also may not come after them at all.

I bought my Le6920 , a soft case, and 500rds of .223 last week partially due to the election. I had planned on getting one anyway and the "boss" stipulated I had to wait until November. I used the election as a excuse and ordered it Oct. 25. But I picked it up Nov. 2. So I succeeded.:D

Topped off my magazine collection this am.

I now have plenty of mags for my Glocks and SIG 9mms.

Remember selling spare G17 mags in 1994 for 75 bucks a pop!

I bought a ruger 10-22 with several K rounds of ammo and a Mk-18 a while back, but not because of the election. I simply wanted a 10-22 & Mk18 for a while now and finally came across both in my area. I'm actual trying to downsize my rifle collection to just 3 ARs and 2 AKs since I'm not shooting them as often as the others. As far as buying anymore, maybe a Shield 9mm if I can find one, but again not because of POTUS. I had a lot of reservations about the Shield since I own a 9c, due to it's mag cap. After seeing and fingered Kyle Lambs custom M&P Shield with VTAC sights on it in a recent VTAC 1.5 pistol course a few weeks ago, it was the shit and completely sold on this steam lined CCW pistol.

Roger, a quick question if I might. Did SGM Lamb say if S&W was going to release it, as they did the VTAC M&P full-size? Or was it a pistol that he had produced for his personal use?

I have a friend that is thinking of a Shield, and would likely delay their purchase, to see such a collaboration.

Congrats on the MK18, by the way.

Hey Bill. Not that I can recall. I'll shoot him an email, but he may have some industry nondisclosure issue associated with getting his, but I'll ask. But I am on every wait list out there. He allowed us to finger bang it to our hearts content. I believe it was for personal use and for T&E. It also had Apex parts installed. It had a very nice (approximate) 3.5 lbs trigger pull and notable tactile reset. Much better than my stock triggers on my M&Ps prior to installing the Apex hard sears. He had another custom full sized M&P9 with a lightened slide (cut outs) which was pretty cool as well. As you know, he and other more notable instructors are privy to quite a bit of new 'hotness' coming out for T&E. The Shield drew quite the crowds during breaks.

I didn't buy a gun but I did snag another case of 147 grain American Eagle, my current case was gettin' low...

I did sell 29 Colt 30 round mags and split up an AR last week. I really didn't realize there was such a rush goin' on. I figured I'd post it for a decent price and sit on it. If it sold, cool, if not, I'd just have to be stuck with an awesome AR.

Day-um. Everything sold in a few hours! :D

I voted early last month, the same day I went and picked up a 6720 due to this election. Did I NEED it . . . no. But they may not be available down the road. Price was south of a grand, I was pricing 6920s as well and one dealer had already jacked his up to $1700 BEFORE the election. I bet they are all sold now.

Man, gotta love the HST's. They are the smoothest shooting round I have shot.

Regarding the HST's: my department uses them in .40. I agree they do shoot very well, but I am less than impressed with their performance. Two of my co workers shot a taxpayer in the head three times (including one round through the gentleman's right eye) after he tried to run them over. The taxpayer then drove off, wrecked, and ran. He is still alive to tell the tale. Another officer shot an upstanding citizen who charged the officer with a knife. 6 rounds center mass, the lad survived.

I have yet to be in a shooting (knock on proverbial wood), but have put down my fair share of deer with my pistol. The HST's have left me less than impressed.

Back to the topic. I didn't buy a gun on Tuesday, but picked up another 500 rounds of 9mm. I figured it won't go to waste.

From talking to a few friends this evening, one being a manager in a local gun store, they have been out for a while (since this summer) but hard to find. He stated when they got their initial shipment on a wed, by sunday, they were sold out and have been on a waiting list ever since. He cannot find a Shield anywhere in stock. Just got off the phone with another friend who is a NFA class 3 SOT dealer, who says the same thing. It would appear that S&W have simply sold out of their first production run.

As always, I would pick the load that is most reliable and accurate in your pistol, as well as one that is readily available for a reasonable cost. Agencies here have had excellent success with the Federal HST 147 gr JHP (P9HST2) and Winchester Ranger-T 147 gr JHP (RA9T); others have reported good performance with the Federal Tactical 135 gr +P JHP (LE9T5) and Winchester 147 gr bonded JHP (RA9B/Q4364).

Bought a Glock 19 as well, but it wasn't really planned around the election. I have had a GSSF coupon sitting in my wallet for 6 months now. The store is pretty far away and I just happened to have to go to that part of town that day.

Bushy .308 ORC mid-length from my fav LGS. Heavy barrel, chrome lined to include chamber, 7.75 lbs. New, with an apparently old-stock "Windham, ME" rollmark and "LR-308", a couple 200rd battlepacks and 4 20rd pmags. Yeeha.

I bought a M&P9c. My fiancee needs a CCW gun, and I made an executive decision (pun intended) in honor of the election. Not because of OMGBANZ, but because those people will drive the prices through the roof.

I bought a Glock 17. Not so much because of the election but because it was missing from my Glock collection. Also bought 4,000 rounds of 9mm because my inventory has dropped below 2,000 and fear of price jump.

On a side note:
I have two G19s, one G34, one G21 and a G26 with thousands of rounds through each.
The G17 is the only one that has ever hit me in the head with brass. I only have six or seven hundred rounds through it so far so I will give it time to break in. (brass to head, face about 3 times) Only a tiny bit disappointed:happy:
