I am interested if the 700P has a chamber that is not long throated. I would also like to know if the magazine allows me to chase the lands for a while. A chamber print would be great but probably asking for way too much.

I ask this because I was always disappointed in my 700 BDL Varmint in 223 which was long throated.

imho:

Never had an issue with any Remington 700P I had or a friend had with accuracy. FGMM would print under MOA on average, typically 1/2 MOA, @ 100 yards for 5 shots. Reloads OAL SMK 168/175 2.80" or 178 AMAX 2.815" shot just as well.

Not sure about current 5R offerings, but a couple past 5R barreled actions had shorter throats, but again did not matter has I load to the above.

Randy "HateCA" does an amazing job with his "Maverick Package"

"Plus" Bedding the Barreled Action to the Factory HS Stock.

^ 1/2 MOA all day load with the right trigger snapper ;)

The mag length isn't going to stop you from seating your bullets to the lands. What bullets do you want to shoot? Also what 700p model are we talking about I believe there are 4. I know what your asking but the way you asked it doesn't make much sense.

If its a VLD type bullet you want to shoot you can have the mag box replaced with a wayats and you will not have any issues. I had to single round load mine before I had the mag boxes replaced.

Let me try again.

The 700P I am considering is the 300 WIN MAG. I will use 180g to 200g Sierra GK and Nosler BT. I plan on using this as my 600 yard maximum distance hunting rifle. That will not be the rifle's maximum but my ethical max.

I just want to be able to set my OAL so that the ogive of the bullet will be close to the lands and as the throat erodes, I can lengthen the OAL to obtain the same ogive to land distance. In my experience, I get best accuracy with minimum jump. It's not a seriously expensive rifle to take a chance on but, I don't want to be hamstrung by a short magazine box and a free bore. I will look at Wyatt's boxes.

Sorry for not being specific enough. I incorrectly assume everyone uses the same terminology as I use and that is a mistake on my part.

It has a SAMMI spec 300 win mag throat, If not the wayats outdoors extended center fed you could consider a seekins precision detachable box.

I don't for see you having an issue with thous bullets. I also would not worry about the throat, it will take quite a few rounds before you have to worry. The wayats is a great investment and will ensure you have no issues at all with even the longest VLD bullets.

I to have a 300 win mag as my primary rifle, switching to the 215 or 230g Hybrid right now myself. If you need a gunsmith recommendation I can provide, but this really is not that hard.
