I just purchased a Bravo Company carbine rifle now while im waiting to receive the gun im in the process of finding ammo. I know the rifle is mil-spec and built to used a 5.56 round unlike most AR's that are .223/5.56.

My question is would it hurt to use a .223 for just target practice?
What is a good and cheap round just for practice use that i can buy in bulk of 500-1000 rounds for not an outrageous amount of money.
At the bulk deals im averaging around .40-.45 cent per round for 5.56

any brands to look into or stay away from?

thanks!

A 5.56 chamber rifle can shoot either.

You should be able to put anything through your BCM if you are just looking to plink.

I personally don't have any issues plinking with Tula, which is currently the least expensive offering. If you are looking for better reliability and accuracy than the Russian steel stuff offers, PMC Bronze is a nice cheap-ish practice round.

Plenty of better deals than .45/round available here:

so i will be okay putting .223 rounds thru my bravo company correct? just for plinking? I was just concerned putting anything than 5.56 thru there, its my first AR and a very nice one, didnt want to ruin anything

and would yall recommened 55 grain or 62 grain or etc?

Cheap .223 ammo will work just fine for plinking in your BCM. Nothing wrong with Tula/Wolf/etc. for range use.

either 55 or 62 grain will work for plinking/range. Congrats on the new bcm - it should eat most anything you feed it.

On the 5.56 vs .223 topic, recommend you take a look at this article:
