One of the salesman recommended PRI rings and a Leupold. ..though I'm not sure where to start.

I've got a PRI base and it is perfect. However, my rings of choice are Seekins or Badger.

The SPR should have a NEAR base already on it. As for rings badger or seekings like stated.

Leupold are overpriced.

If you can live with SFP I would look at Nightforce just a little more then a Leupold and a better built optic IMO.

Could you hook me up with a few links? I'm feeling a bit noobish at the moment.

I have an A1, great rifle. The Burris XTR is a great economy scope and I'm also happy with my Nikon Tactical.

I'm sure I'll have some soon.

I joined up at snipershide, lot of guys with a lot of info over there for sure.

I'm still going to have a lot to learn when I get this rifle as it is.

One concern I have is mounting the scope properly. I read a bit of the tutorial on the homepage about using depth guages..can you vouch this is a good method? I've read good and bad opinions about it. I'm more than likely going to have the gun shop guys show me how it is done so I can eliminate chance of error.

Theres a wealth of knowledge over there ;)

Feeler gauges work really well, but you mileage may vary. For my application it's fast, efficient, and accurate enough.
