I'm excited to get this little guy dialed in and see what she can do. It is my first CZ and only bolt action 22lr.

CZ 452 16" threaded barrel should be great in the woods chasing squirrel.

The 2x7x33 Leupold has been on my want to have for a while. Might be overkill for a .22lr but it will last a lifetime and serve me well.

These are te only non thrilling pictures I have untill I get to get her out in the field to dial scope in.

Nice rifle. I have 2 now myself.

If this is your first CZ .22 then check-out the CZ sub-forum on rimfirecentral.com because there are some valuable tips for cleaning and maintenance.

Best one I found was use a smaller caliber cleaning rod .17 or .20 because of the match chamber/ bore.

Have fun. I have had great luck with CCI ammunition in my rifles.

Those are nice rifles. Good choice on the scope as well.

Treat yourself to a light weight suppressor and run some Wolf Match ammo through it. You will be amazed with the quietness, much quieter than a pellet gun. Mine has claimed a large pile of head-shot squirrels.

I bought a CZ452-2E like yours when they first were released. I did upgrade mine with a Timney trigger kit. I have a Leupold VXII 3x9 EFR scope that has close range parallex adjustment and a .22 suppressor.

I have a large pile of guns but this little jewel stays in the front of the safe. It is my first recommendation to anyone wanting a .22 rifle.

I'm going to look into a tax stamp and unit after the holidays I think.

I've been thinking about a nice little .22, this looks like it.

That's a very nice rifle indeed. Give us a range report after! I'm interested as well.

I'm jealous

I used to shoot bolt-action .22s as a kid and a buddy of mine picked up a CZ a few years back to relive the memories. It's everything I could want in a gun like this. If my kids ever get interested in shooting, I'll get them a Scout!

This is for sure not the steadiest rest so ill dial scope in better after more shooting and a better rest set up.

This is a 30 yard group of 5 each
Wind was not great and a tad gusty. It threw me off more than anything trying to hold steady.

So far with maybe 100 rounds down the tube I really like this rifle!!

I have a 452 Ultra Lux and its an absolute tack driver! And with the extra long barrel it's extremely quiet.

Super sweet rifle! I didn't have the coin for the 452 at the time, so I went with the poor man's version:

Savage Mark II FV-SR

I hope to get a 452 in the future. Do yourself a favor and get the Silencerco SS Sparrow suppressor. I did a ton of research on my 2nd .22LR can and the SS Sparrow is head & shoulders above the rest!

A Steyr Scout right? ;)

I had LH 452's in 17 HMR and .22lr. Both had excellent triggers and accuracy, though I sometimes had feed issues with the mags. In the end I standardized on my 10/22's as I didn't need a bolt action 22 that much. But I still like the CZ's as a great option for an affordable .22 bolt action when you don't want to go higher-end like Anschutz.

Also interesting is the new switch-barrel 455.

congats on the 452, cz makes some fine quality accurate .22s. be careful for some people they end up buying more than one. i have a 28" ultra lux and 452FS.

The barrels benefit from break in. After you fire 500-600 rounds through it, you should see the shot groups improve.

Is it even possible to wear out a .22 barrel? Let alone break one in? haha

Another thing to do is not clean the barrel unless accuracy has really declined.

This is excellent advice. All I clean is the chamber and bolt face until accuracy drops off. Your zero might shift after a thorough cleaning, but usually it returns to zero after firing fouling shots. After cleaning, I fire at least 20 fouling shots before shooting a match.

Oh I never go into a match with a clean barrel. Bad idea!

That looks like a sweet little setup, bgoode! I have the full-on 452 Luxe with all the aesthetic do-dads, and while it looks Euro-cool the LOA is a bit much. I use it in my brother's vineyard lands and it is VERY hard on the local squirrel population! Yours looks like the route I should've gone...

I was very happy this past Saturday. Head shot squirrel at 40 yards no problem!!

Cool rifle. I have a CZ 455 on order and can't wait to get it. BTW what rings are you using with your CZ 452 and do you like them?

bgoode
12-27-12, 06:03
Buy talley rings. Well worth it!!! No other rings fit this perfect.

They are fun little rifles. My CZ 452 is a pretty decent shooter too. The trigger is not that great though. Knowing what I know now though, I would have opted for the set trigger model, as I have tried one, and it is awesome.

Here is a pic of my little CZ, with a Gemtech can and one little ground squirrel that volunteered to be a self propelled pop up target (briefly).

I'm not sure how I feel about CZ's, especially the 452/3's...

Looks like you need to buy a few more to make an accurate assessment.

Indeed, but I was afraid that showing the other 4 that I have would make people think I was a fanatic, gun-crazed killer.

How do you like that Leupold Rimfire?? Which model is it?

2-7x33 - I installed some picatinny rails on some of my CZ's so I could move this Leupold around - excellent glass of course.

Is it really worth the price difference over a savage? I've really been looking hard at the savage mark ii trsr to be a good host for my sparrow.

The accuracy rocks on these things. I just wish they would make the safety work in the "right" direction.
