Hello,

I am starting a new build, and this one will be primarily for coyote and varmint hunting. This will be a scoped rifle, probably with a skeleton stock.

I'm not convinced I need a bull barrel, as I'll be lugging this around the woods for hours at a time, and weight is a consideration. The other thing is, I won't put much more than 3-4 shots through it at any target (more like one with a quick followup), so heat build up is also less of a concern. I am leaning toward an 18" barrel. There were some nice looking Saber complete uppers at PK with a fluted 18" barrel and option to use build on a saber upper for $30 more. I'm looking at hunting accuracy, which to me means 1" or thereabouts at 100 yds. I've already invested in an LMT BCG, so that's not a concern. How do you think this would work?

I welcome any thoughts or suggestions.

I think it could easily work with the right ammo. It's not uncommon for an out-of-the-box M4 to shoot 1" groups at 100yds with good ammo.

The 18" Sabre Defense should be able to do it.
