View Full Version : Sighting in tips for a dummy.....me
What is the best procedure for sighting in an AR with Troy front and rear flip-up sights? I sighted in my midlength with some help, but that had the standard A2 carry handle. I've read through the LTC Santose Improved Battlesight zero instructions, but I'm still having trouble figuring out the Troy. Maybe I'm stupid (has happened before;) ), but I need some guidance. Please point me in the right direction or walk me through the process. Any help is greatly appreciated.....thanks.
I zero all my M4/carbean at Chucks zero = 50yards
My LMT Defender 2000 M4 14.5

Black Hills White box 5.56mm 77gr Hits DEAD on with M855 ( BH75gr also)
Close Enough I can also HIT TIN CAN at the Berm 220yards
Love that 50Y ZERO
TROY BUIS Is it a same plane?
anyway great BUIS
FRONT Sight by Troy ( should be like a regular FSB but flips up right)
adjust POST so the bullet POI can go UP or Down
REAR SIGHT ADJUST Left to right POI
zero 50 yards I think its great for a M4/carbine
Yeah, with the Troy front and rear flip-up sights a lot of what is talked about in that article goes out the window. There is no rear elevation/range adjustment so you just sight them in like a normal iron sight. Pick the distance you want to zero them in at (I agree 50 yards is pretty good) and adjust the rear for windage and the front for elevation. I started at 25 yards to get the sights close then went to 50 to fine tune.

I also like the 50 yard method (more details at http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/improvedbattlesightzero.msnw), but confirm your actual 200 yard setting at the first opportunity. Mine have always been within a click one way or the other of the 50 yard setting.
Once on at 200 yards, the 300 yard sight setting has required no further adjustment.
