View Full Version : Range day deux
Same format as before. Same location as before (southern VA off I95).
PLease start throwing out dates that might work.
PJ
I'm thinking late January, for two reasons:
1) Some breathing space from the 2012 holidays.
2) We can bitch about the cold, vice the rain...though of course, Mother Nature could giveth with both hands....:p
However it works out, thanks again for hosting, man.
I would love to attend again.
If possible please count me in, work schedule permitting.
Thanks again for setting this up.
As for dates...Jan 19/20 & Jan 26/27 would work for me.
Best
Harold
I think late January would work for me. Thanks for hosting and setting this up again, last time was a blast.
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed Mother Nature doesn't get any ideas from Jim's post.
After shot show works for me. Definitely coming this time. Making sure the wife runs all her errands Friday. So I'm in rain shine snow
I'd love to get in on this one again. Next semester will be a lot easier for me so I shouldn't end up bailing half-way through this time. On that note I wouldn't be able to make the 26-27.
I should be able to make it this time as well.
I'd be down for late January as well.
End of January will be what we shoot for.
Looking to do some mid range work out to the 300m.
We should also have a partial climbing wall and roof top done by then to use.

I would love to go if I can fit this into my schedule. What would the round count be and is there going to be a night shoot?
From the last outing: https://www.m4carbine.net/showpost.php?p=1385420&postcount=25
You'll be able to shoot basically as much or as little as you want. Last one, I brought about 400 of 5.56 and 600 of 9mm.
Ran out of 5.56, shoulda brought more.
I may be able to make this. Is there going to be another 'range fee?' I just realized I never threw in the $5 last time so I'll bring an extra 5 if I end up making it.
Tentative date Jan 26
Rd count is like what others have already said. shoot what you bring, bring what you want to shoot . safe number of rds would be 750 for rifle 500 pistol.
I should have some cool stuff set up for us.
I will send out an email detailing the details.
PJ
Sounds good. What did you guys do for food last time? did y'all just grill out there? or went some place to eat?

People either brought some stuff or rolled out to a fast food joint a few minutes away.

Some people brought food and some made a run out to Five Guys if I remember correctly.
I'm good for the 26th.
Please count me in.

Thx.
Count me in for 26th as well.
Why of course I want to come out and freeze my ass off with you guys! Helz yes! :dance3:
Tentatively count me in.
Also, I'm not sure how it will work out, but I may be +1 or 2 this time.
Probably not likely, but possible.

I'd say that this winter has been pretty mild so it probably shouldn't be a big deal, but then again last time it did poor...

I'd be interested if I can fit it into my work schedule
Would have loved to make it, but I go TAD the day after I return from Shot until Feb 9. I will keep an eye out for another.
I would like to attend the shoot. Is there still spots available?

Jan 26/27 or Feb 2/3 works great for me. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

...AND apricots...!
(Apricots are kryptonite to the armored side of the house; bad juju. Do the cannon-cockers have an institutional superstition...?)

Nice. I always hear them affectionately referred to as FAGs (Field Artillery Guys) on my side haha.
Just found out that I won't be able to make it to this one unfortunately. Hopefully by the time another one rolls around I'll have more to bring to the table anyways. Thanks anyways guys.
Gents,
This is to double tap a PM I sent out. Please push me your email address via PM.
All future traffic in regards to this will be pushed via email.
I will be sending out a much more detailed plan within the next week so shooters will have a better idea and understanding of whats going on and round counts.
PJ
Email went out.
If i missed you, let me know.
PJ
Guys,
Thank you for yet another fantastic range day.
I really appreciate you taking time to share your knowledge and skill with us. I learned a ton and had a great time doing it.
Thanks guys,
Harold
I'd also like to extend my thanks to the fine folks running the show. The day was well organized, the instructors were effective and efficient, and I learned some good things. I look forward to eventually being a more of a contributor than a sponge.
Next time, I'm bringing half a ton of crusher-run, so we can fill up that damned hole immediately behind the first barrier of the Fleischwolf.
If I didn't know better, I'd say Jack sets it up that way just so he can watch folks' feet get water-logged in the puddle and giggle to himself... :D
Thanks again to PJ for hosting, and to Jack and Sean for honcho-ing the drills.
Ditto.
Just as great a time as the last one, even though the weather was even suckier.
For anyone there, I have a few pics/vids of some of the later drills that I will be passing along to PJ for dissemination.
There's also about 2 or 3 minutes worth of video covering a certain persons misadventures with a garand.....:p::D
I was pretty bummed to miss out on this given how much fun the first one was. Perhaps next time (assuming there is a next time) I'll actually have some carbine ammo on hand so I can go.
Looking at doing another in the April/May timeframe based off work schedules.
Even though I always promise this and have yet to deliever, I should be spending some quality time with a bobcat and chainsaw to help expand the range.
PJ
April and March are by far my busiest months but I'd love to go again, especially since I don't know that I'll be able to take one of the courses I'd originally planned for in April.
Just some of the things we did:

If anyone has any other footage from the day, I'd enjoy seeing it.
Nice vids.
I've got a whole bunch of cardboard targets and 4-6 metal target stands i planned on bringing and just leaving there. so hopefully i can make the next. would like to take these items out of my shed lol.
VMI-MO: if you're ever in hampton roads, let me know. you can come pick this stuff up so that the next time you go down to the range, you can bring it with you.
If anyone has any debrief points, comments or things they would like to see done next time, post them here, pm or email me.
If anyone has any pics/vids of me running the 9-hole head-to-head against the guy with the AK I would love to have it.
I was the guy in the grey beanie, yellow eyepro, and rifle with green rail panels and ACS.
