I used to take my rifles to a local gunsmith for new barrel installation, glass bedding, etc., and he was top notch. He up and died on me without giving me any advance warning, how inconsiderate!

People who I respect in my part of the country have not been too happy with the work they had done at Springfield Armory in the past three years.

Does anyone know a good gunsmith in the central part of the U.S. who specializes in M1As and Garands? I need the name of a good gunsmith I can give to my students and have on hand when I am ready for another barrel.

Smith Enterprise in Tempe, Az...if you can get your rifle in to them. They are really up to their eyeballs in Gov't contracts.

However, they are pre-eminent in the area of the M14 series rifles.

If Roland Beaver (Old Corps Weaponry) is still working, he would be a good choice. The name of his business is a clue to his background.
