I'm getting a Colt Match Target MT6400 Carbine. Looking on Colt's web site the spec's say it's caliber is 5.56mm NATO. On their picture section it shows the roll mark listed below, being 223. I'm just curious why they would roll mark it CAL. 223 if it's a 5.56mm NATO. Anyone know why?

MATCH
TARGET
M4 CARBINE

CAL. 223
SER. XXX######

Thanks, NYH1.

Stock photo, may appear different than actual product?

Colt roll marks vary. Barrel markings may vary. What's important is the dimensions the chamber and leade is cut to. Colt carbine barrels use the 5.56 NATO chamber

Please don't start a new thread every time you encounter a new mystery. Google would have been your friend (had you let it) and you could have posted it in your other thread.

Iraqgunz, I had a simple question so I asked it. Aren't we here to help each other out?

You are encouraged to help yourself first.
You see that little orange button at the top right hand portion of you screen that says "search"?

I've never not found the information I was looking for by using it.

The point IG was making is that the question should have been posted in your earlier thread as the two are related

Ok, I thought that everyone that wanted to check those threads out already would have. Like I said, it was just a question. Didn't think asking a question would bother anyone.

Sorry, NYH1.

Sorry, NYH1.

Is there a reason for that obnoxious signature pyramid?

Then by this logic, there should be NO more new threads started in this forum.

Sorry to get off topic but I felt the need to comment.

I know. I need love and affection, and to be reassured that I'm important. Internet gun forums are supposed to be like a warm blanket and a hot cup of cocoa on a chilly winters night.

Do they still send you a seasonal floral arrangement on your birthday? Whenever I was feeling the blues of turning another year older those bouquets would really turn those frowns upside down!

Hmm, wonder if what others say about people here is correct?

Here's the straight poop...

Most answers to most questions can be found on this forum.
Most questions from new members have been asked several times already. Sometimes several times a month.
Using the search feature and reading the stickied threads, all of the sticky threads, will answer most questions new members have.
A bonus would be gaining a knowledge base that 90% of the members here don't have.

That is ridiculous. No one here is dazzled by gun inventory lists.

A freakin' ROLL-MARK thread....FML.

NYH1, start reading the stickied threads and using the Search features, and make use of the information provided by members that have gone before you.
