Umm....Noveske.
Umm....Noveske.
Are they made in their own Noveske factory?
Most lowers are made by just a handful of manufacturers.
I asked Rainier Arms and they couldn't tell me.
whoever makes them is doing a stand up job. That flared mag well makes this lower the best looking one in the business imo

Who makes Noveske Gen 2 lowers?
There are only a handful of companies around the country that make lowers and Noveske, like most AR manufacturers, has used at least a few of them over the years. I suspect that their choice of contractor varies according to pricing and the ability of that contractor to deliver a product that most frequently meets Noveske's quality standards.
Indeed...what does it matter who did the forging and machining? What I care about is Noveske's end result based on the quality standards that they set for the assembly components and the end product going out the door. IMHO, that's what sets the bar.

I have a few of these lowers I got from you and I could not be happier. The fit and finish is perfect. They are works of art really.
I saw a few videos of CNC works of different factories.
I am in love with my Noveske babies and wanted to know where they were born rather than imagine if it were this CNC machine or that CNC machine.
I get pretty excited when I see my favorite products made from scratch.

Who makes Noveske Gen 2 lowers?
The lower was designed as an entirely new forging, and this was done in house at Noveske Rifleworks. Does Noveske own a forging house? Do they own a steel mill? Do they mine the ore themselves with John smoking a cigar and watching while Sheri cracks a whip on the backside of all the elves?
"Makes" is a relative term in this industry, and can be used for or against things, which is why Grant gave you the answer he did. In the generic sense, its made by Noveske. In the literal sense, its made by hard working Americans from all over.

Thanks Stick.
My question got started by watching "CNC Porn".
I respect that they don't want to give away too much about where it is actually machined at.
Doesn't really matter.
All I know is, thanks to G&R, I now have a collection of lowers that will outlast my need, for life.
As I was admiring them, I must admit I can get a little obsessive over every detail.
Thanks!
I do not know about the gen 2 but I have seen the standard ones manufactured at JD machine. They make lowers for a few companies.
Those gen II lowers are beautiful. I had to sell mine recently but one day I will own another.
and watching while Sheri cracks a whip on the backside of all the elves?
I know people that would pay good money to be one of those elves....

Maybe...VLTOR ?
I can't stand all the "why does it matter?" comments that always seem to pop up in these threads, as if it's "uncool" to ask about something like that.
I'd like to know myself. The reason? Pure curiosity, nothing more.

And I am glad you sold it.:D

Very well spoken!

Stick... what was Sheri wearing and do you have photos?:p
I love mine, but I really don't think it looks right unless paired with a VLTOR MUR upper. Between that and the incompatibility with a few magazines (however slight) it makes me a bit . They're pretty hefty too, but damn is it sexy.

Wake mind clarifying * hefty * price or weight & other than SF mags, which others don't fit?

Well, both. Maybe not by much depending on what other lowers you're comparing, but I know its on the higher end price wise and feel like weight is a similar story. And the earlier ones may or may not have problems with the new PMAG M3. I've heard some people just have to use a little more force but others have had to shave a tiny bit off either the lower or mag (I can't remember which).

I think this is part of a disease......
I can't build a rifle without a Vltor upper anymore! Be it a MUR or a VIS.

John thx for the pmag update, any idea if the more recent Nov. FFLs have been changed/tweaked to accept SF 60rd. mags?
I have not heard of any changes to accomidate the Surefire mags. That said, you should ask Todd.K or someone else plugged in at Noveske.

Love it...
