Tillamook County Sheriff Andy Long said Quackenbush's case was handled by city police and information was forwarded to the county district attorney, who is considering whether to press charges.

A sheriff's deputy drove to Quackenbush's home Thursday and took his concealed weapons permit. Quackenbush can reapply for a concealed weapons permit as long as no criminal charges are pending, Long said.

"He shouldn't apply for it soon," Long said.

Sounds fair to me. I'm usually pretty liberal when it comes to gun rights however I have sat through LOTS of movies with my carry weapon.

1. I'm pretty OCD about my weapon and probably physically verify it every 10 minutes or so.

2. I don't waistband carry or use a holster it can "slip out" of.

3. As soon as I stand up after a movie I physically confirm my keys, carry weapon and wallet before I step away. Every single time.

If you can make it home from a movie without realizing you didn't bring you carry gun with you, perhaps you really shouldn't carry.

If you find yourself in that situation and nobody at the theater answers and you simply give up to try tomorrow instead of calling police NEXT, perhaps you really shouldn't carry.

Yeah that's pretty bad. I'm pretty OCD about mine too, and my wallet.

I've been carrying for 20 years. I can't imagine a case where my negligence would result in a pistol getting out of my control outside of an actual altercation. A good holster is as important as a good pistol. No excuse and a damn good thing nobody got hurt.

I'm pretty hefty dude and I spend a ton of time in the drivers seat and office chair. My OWB holster is never an issue carrying a pistol of similar size as his.

The only time I put my gun under my seat in a theater is if I carry my SBR with me.

I don't believe it's 'OCD' to perform regular 'personal inventory audits,' it's being responsible.

Or I'm just in denial. :p

And besides - would you place anything on a theater floor to begin with?

I've seen cleaner porn shops compared to some of the cinemas in my neck of the woods.

What are you talking about? I thought cinemas and porn shops were the same thing. Where the hell do you guys go to watch movies?

Iraqgunz: From what I've read, the Baghdad cineplex is a rough spot. Supposedly the drive-in theaters in Iraq are even worse. Frankly, I won't go to a show where they sell hummus and pita chips rather than nachos.

It seems like we are best off with out him having the right to carry.

There is a certain level of responsibility involved in carrying a gun, he clearly did not demonstrate it.

I could not tell you the number of movies i have had a firearm on me .to put it under the seat is a dumbass thing to do .

he sounds like he does not have the sense to be carrying .

I can't imagine how you could misplace your gun in a public setting. Like the rest of you, I'm making sure I've got everything before I move. A quality holster goes a long way towards ensuring that you're not leaving/losing a pistol.

The article doesn't say he left it there on purpose, it says it fell out of it's holster while he squirmed during the movie to get comfortable. WTF?

Piss poor situational awareness on his part, not knowing he lost his piece and leaving the theatre with out it is his bad. I'd lose my job if that was me, I have no problem at all with him losing his permit over it.

He is lucky it happened in Tillamook county, rural, gun friendly, hunting area along the coast. If had been in the Portland metro area it would have gone much worse for everyone. Fortunately out in Tillamook the kids are familiar enough with gun safety they did the right thing. Portland? That sucker would be on the street holding up a quickie mart. And the gun owner would be dangling from the PPD lamp post with a sign around his neck (with a rainbow sash to hold it on of course).

40-year gun owner, and a nice looking little Beretta. He was no newbie to CCW, just got wasn't paying attention when he should have. Good reminder to us all to never let our vigilance down no matter long we carry. Not a good example of responsible CCW for the press to eat up!!

Eagle Industries but I'm pretty sure they don't make them anymore. A few guys on HKPro have them for sale.
