GREEEAAATTTT...Gun owners are becoming the new sexual preditars.

Course, this is the crapp the left pulls on people they hate. Someone needs to go to prison for this.

I'm going to have to have a chat with the Chief of my local PD. There is no excuse for such actions. Of course, I don't know who I would be more pissed at if my name were there, the "reporter" who published the info or the dipshit who gave them the information to post.

I know they are claiming 1st Amendment/FOIA, but really... Weren't there a few good reasons that a Driver's Privacy Protection Act was passed? For a newspaper to do this is entirely reckless. And it will certainly hurt their plight for any kind of sweeping national registration plan. Joe Duckhunter will be a little less apathetic if he has to worry about being subjected to this.

Bingo!

I said this in another thread; firearms are the new child porn. They will be demonized and if you are a gun owner/rights activist you will be discredited as such.

Oh, really?

Didn't some other paper or web site do that/attempt to do that and got hammered for it a few years back?

Other then attempting to get attention for themselves, what possible public good could be served by that?

What, if any, legal options do the people on the list have?

Possible answer to your 1st question:

The following blog is cut from the "Sauce for the goose, home address and phone number of Journa-News....."

In 2009, a liberal rag from Tennessee called the Commercial Appeal did the same shit. A blogger, ‘Linoge’ at The Walls of the City, turned the tables on the assholes and proceeeded to publish the names, home addresses and phone numbers of the newspaper staff.

Background here: http://sfcmac.wordpress.com/2009/02/17/lawful-gun-owner-turns-tables-on-liberal-rag/

Hilarity ensued when the paper complained about their privacy being invaded. Liberals hate the shoe being forced onto the other foot.

It is great seeing someone turn the table on the so called journalist. He certainly researched the publisher and writer of the article. We need more of this!

The newspaper has now hired armed guards (http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2013/01/journal-news-hires-armed-security-guards-153103.html)!

The Journal News of West Nyack, N.Y., has hired armed security guards to defend its offices after receiving a torrent of phone calls and emails responding to the paper's publication of the names and addresses of area residents with pistol permits.

I read the following:
McBride had filed at least two reports with the Clarkstown Police Department due to perceived threats. However, the police did not find the communications in question actually threatening. Incident-Report 2012-00033099 describes McBride telling police she was worried because an email writer wondered “what McBride would get in her mail now.”

Police said the email “did not constitute an offense” and did not contain an actual threat.

Another good reason NOT to get a concealed carry permit.

It just puts you on an easy to find list for who owns what. A sort of registration, mind you.

A state list of concealed carry license holders will be the first place they will go when it comes time to round them all up. much like registration....it just makes it easier for the govt. to finally do what it is coming ever closer to doing some day.

...no thank you.

By that reasoning you could also include hunting/fishing license's,C&R license's as well..Even if you bow hunt, chances are you probably have a gun or two in the house.. I'm not going to worry about it...When the time comes that "they" are confiscating firearms, then it is already too late, at that point you'll have two choices..either hand them in, or start using them...Honestly, I don't think it's close to that point yet...

I'm thinking they're doing this for publicty..After all, sensationalism sells newspapers..They knew exactly what they were doing when they printed that list..What they did'nt expect however, was for their names to be splatted all over the'net, for all to see.. That caught them off guard..You reap what you sow..The fact the police are pretty much ingoring their requests to "do something" speaks volumes..They've no one to blame for all this, but themselves..I'll bet they won't try this again anytime soon..

And a good reason why permitting and registration isn't a good idea.

I'd be thrilled, THRILLED I tell you, if I had got a CCW permit, and a handgun to protect myself for a very real threat, maybe moved or tried to take other steps not to have my address all over the place, and these dickheads just told the world (and the threat I did all that to protect myself against) exactly where I live.

Maybe we should start publishing names and addresses of women who get abortions or are in shelters/hiding from abusive spouses.

Megyn Kelly brought up some good points saying basically when you get robbed you can thank the paper for posting you DO NOT have a gun to protect yourself and are a easy target !

I guess in the past when this happened some college did a study and found crime rose in those posted areas against people who were not on the gun list !!!

Yes. There has been an agenda in full swing to discredit and demonize firearms, their owners, and the industry as a whole.

However child molesters are about to start getting even more of a pass . . .

From his thread on the matter.

It looks like the academics want to reclassify pedophilia as a sexual orientation instead of a disorder. All part of the normalization campaign.

I am not sure the state run media would do such things directly because of the consequences if they were caught.

But I certainly would not put it above the left in some corner to do so with the goal of making gun owners look like extremists.

And it could be some nut case gun owners as well, but agitation from the left would be my first guess.
