On the 10 5/8" Midlength Rail -- right now we are not sure which direction we will take on the next interation of that.
We have a gun on contract with the URXII so it is not being replaced at this time.
It looks like the top of this mount is railed? Will it fit a x300 on top? And any idea on price?
That is correct. It will fit the Surefire X300 on there as well. More information on the Magpul MOE Scout Mount can be found here.

Kevin,
Thanks for the heads-up on the midlength URX system. I was going to hold off until a III series came out but I think I'll pick up one of the URX II's for my SBR now.
KevinB,
Are the receiver extensions currently shipping on new rifles the grey Teflon LMT ones?
I also sent you an email to your work account with a few questions about a SR15 and a URX III.

I'm hoping they discontinue the URX-IIs, and produce URX-III, and 3.1s exclusively.
Does anybody have any data on weather or not the URX 3.1 will be produced in 10 3/4''?...
Why in the world would you wish a quality product that many still use, and some most likely prefer, to be gone??
As for the rifles, that URX 3.1 and the 14.5" barrel look great. I'm curious if the 14.5" with the KAC-length gas system is going to be dependent on hotter ammo (which I'm fine with, just curious) or if will run everything reliably like both of my SR15's did.
I'd personally love to see a 14.5" with a carbine or mid length gas system with the ambi lower.
I want my 16" PredatOBR already :dirol:
I want my suitcase rifle yesterday :dance3:
(with a 20" 'back-up' barrel)
Does a Costa rifle mean they are HPT/MPI bolts and barrels and such?
I may have missed something because I don't follow Larue products terribly closely but I was under the impression they didn't test in this manner or at least did not in the past.
I'm sure if Chris is putting his name and logo on it that it would be good to go.
I personally feel that anything with LaRue on it lends itself to quality and slapping a Costa limited edition gun in the market with LaRue manufacturing it should be GTG because the MFG not the Costas name.
Mark LaRue to my knowlege has never produced a sub-par product and sold it to the masses.

I saw the pricing for complete rifles on LF, but no talk on upper costs.
What would the 16inch and 11.5inch SR15 uppers cost? I know I will buy the 11.5 upper and I am debating between just getting the 16 upper or complete gun.

I need the handguard you have for the 870! The stock is iffy as I'm not sure about the looks of it but the handguard is great!

SMGLee! Your absence on MP.net has been noticed. We seem to be missing some SHOT show pics from this year. Either way, great to see your stuff here!

Why? It seems ignorant to want a perfectly good and useful product discontinued.
I understand your desire for the URX III and 3.1, but I do not see how the existence of the URX II would effect that.
On a side note is 0892 your month and year of birth?
I take it the Bren Ten had quietly disappeared and was not mentioned.

A discontinuation would mean (more than likely) that they'd rise in value.
And no. It's not, because that would make me 19.
0892 is the day, and year my parents got married.
Month, and year of birth would make that 0687.
Very cool photos, thanks for taking the time to take these and post them for us poor bastards who couldn't make the trip!
I'd buy it if they went a little shorter on the rail so people can use the HK folding front sight and sling loops.
Why they made a free float forend and then expect folks to mount their sights and sling to the bbl makes zero sense.
Jake
Awesome photos! Thanks for sharing
Most of the new 416's I've seen are coming with the folding front sights instead of the original rail mounted ones.
The Daniel Defense rail mounted front sights are now starting to come through with the rear sight face serrated. They have also upgraded the clamping bolts on these sights (front and rear) to be stronger and have a larger OD to fit better in the rail slot so there is less movement before tightening.

Did FN roll-out an FNAR without a pistol grip? I heard the McMillan stock project was dead and they are doing a variant on their own.
I'm also interested in that Mk 18 Flash Hider. Any info?

Slightly late tot he game of 1-8x field, but this US Optics 1-8x scope could be the best of the field. with first focal plane etched reticle, and a second focal plane red dot. this has all the required spec to compete with the big boy but at a much lower cost. all said and done, a red dot ready 1-8X by US Optics will push the door at around 2400.00 retail. this is lower than Leupold and S&B.

What's the difference between the lightweight and regular 1-4's? Besides the weight of course. Any more info on the reticle?
OK. Now, I'm very interested. That 1-8X may solve my recent pains from the S&B recent price hike.
Have you heard about a projected release date and the types of reticles available?

Whats the weight on the 1-8? My only hesitation is that I had an SN4 and its only draw back was weight. It was the most robust optic I ever owned.

The Daniel Defense rail mounted front sights are now starting to come through with the rear sight face serrated. They have also upgraded the clamping bolts on these sights (front and rear) to be stronger and to fit better in the rail slot so there is less movement.

The PDW was one of the main things at the show I was hoping to see but the rep I talked to pretty much said that it was not going to be made for civilians, LE, mil, nobody. Very disappointing. It seems like a promising platform that provides some incredible weight savings over the AR15 platform. A 16" or 14.5" version with 13" handguard in 5.56 or .300 blackout would be pretty slick.

The new clamping bolts are larger in diameter and therefore the sight has less movement in the rail slot " before tightening down". The new style bolts can be purchased from DD individually if you feel the need.

man, bfg makes some SLAMMIN' gear.
It is basically a 6940 Monolithic rail system with a heat shield finned heat sink lower handguard. you can easily detach IAR handguard and have a standard 6940 lower handguard install on it and get yourself a heavy barrel ultra accurate DMR.

The PDW is awesome. I hope it never dies.
Personally I would want one in the caliber it was intended for with the 7" barrel.
The ability to swap to 300BLK would be killer, but then that means scaling the whole thing up a bit.

Just a quick note, the improved stock of the ACR (lighter color, tougher material) is a retractable stock only, not folding.
The Remington ACR is much lighter now as Chen stated, and leaves the Bushmaster variant standing in terms of overall quality (no surprise). Remington reps are well aware that no-one wants the Bushmaster version (and yes, they hear it all the time *s*).
Hopefully in the not too distant future, time will tell.
you are correct, I was told those improvements are forthcoming to the folder as well.
As I have been told the Remington improvement to the ACR might trickle down to the Bushmaster version.
aslo I was told Remington might study a LE version of the Remington ACR in semi auto with 16" bbl as a patrol rifle, this might fall under the same category as the Remington 700 LE package, it is up to the Remington dealer to control the end users. So a Remington version of the ACR could still be a reality.
Did anyone ask Mr. G when the handguards will be available in longer lengths (12"+)???
Thanks
Bryant
Rail in various length will be released, but they have to fulfill the military contract first before they can commit the production to supply the open market. we are looking at summer time frame
I would like to know if HK is going to offer a HK416 upper to civilians, I remember hearing *something* about a new upper being sold, but maybe it's just a diffident configuration of the MR556.
YES...at my old age, I forgot the price and release date. but you are looking at an upper at about 2000.00
Apparently HK didn't get the memo....Skinny Jeans are the rage right now, those rifles look soooo heavy, the rails on the 416/417 rifles really have me scratching my head.
The G28 is very heavy, but being a sniper rifle, it is expected to be on the heavy side. after all it is not a carbine that you do room to room work with.
The 416/417 rail is actually not too heavy, it is extruded aluminium unit when you hold it in your hands, you can actually see how light it is.
SMG,
What kind of reticle did the Germans opt for in the 3-20x optic?

I saw the pricing for complete rifles on LF, but no talk on upper costs.
What would the 16inch and 11.5inch SR15 uppers cost? I know I will buy the 11.5 upper and I am debating between just getting the 16 upper or complete gun.
Here are a list of the new uppers that I have coming:
30394 - SR15E3 LPR Upper Reciever Assy $1750
30356 - SR15E3 SBR 11.5", flip up front sight/gas block, Carbine URX $1625
30357 - SR-15E3 SQB SBR Upper, 11.5", Mid-length URX II $1750
30355 - SR-15E3 SBR Carbine Upper, 14.5" dimpled barrel $1875
Prices are retail, selling price has not been finalized yet.

Thanks for the HK post. Was interested in the new HK.
I would love the PDW in its original caliber. I would also love to see the 6x35mm in general take off; it's significantly more appealing to me than the Blackout. In fact, I'd be tickled shitless just to see a standard AR chambered in the round.
-B
PDW is not dead, however we are looking at changing the design to be more economical to produce and allow for some other options.
I am glad to hear this and hope "other options" include 5.56x45 and 300 Blackout. Just PLEASE get around to offering the PDW commercially.
Good to see how they revised the battle belt.
I really liked the new thin pouches etc. I wondered about the durability, but was told it is a non-issue.
I think I'm going to have to try some.

so does that felony conversion for the P250 come with a complementary flight to club fed?
Why does everyone bitch and moan about Sig's quality control when more M&Ps have to go back to Smith & Wesson than Tylenol makes pills (and still countless forum members continue to buy M&Ps)?
If you buy a Sig, and it doesn't work the way you want it to, SEND IT BACK! Glocks aren't perfect, M&Ps aren't perfect. If you go with a tried and true P220, P226, P229, etc., odds are in your favor that it's going to be a good shooter.
P.S. This isn't directed at any individual in particular. It's really just getting old.
I mean really old. QC this and QC that. If you haven't purchased a new Sig and had a problem, I don't see the reason to bitch about QC. My M&P had a shit striker and shit barrel out of the box. I sent it back in and they fixed it. I'm not out bashing S&W QC, even though I clearly have a reason to.
Caveat: That red dot is shit.
The new KAC catalog has the 14.5" rifle weighing in at 6.89lbs while the 16" Mod 1 weighs in at 6.6lbs. Does anyone know why the shorter, ball-milled version is listing heavier? I wouldn't be surprised if they're running a heavier buffer in it, but I don't see that accounting for an ounce or two. Maybe a heavier barrel profile?
It probably has something to do with the utmost precision that SIG pistols used to be built to and the fact that they're generally more expensive than most others. It might also have something to do with the actual quality of SIG's customer service. I've heard they can be rather snippy.
At the end of the day, I can't really comment. The only SIG I've ever owned was a W. German roll stamped P226. I should have never sold it. I should have had it re-blued or Cerakoted and purchased new grips and sights for it. Hindsight in always 20-20.
I'd really like a 551, but the outrageous ($60-70) mag prices put me off. Maybe they'll come down.
It's really just getting old.

Because I trust the word of others who have purchased more Sigs than any single person would in a lifetime, and have had to send the entire lot back.
It's not confidence inspiring when you know the track record.
I'd really like a 551, but the outrageous ($60-70) mag prices put me off. Maybe they'll come down.
The can be purchased through Sig Sauer USA for about $38 each I believe. There is also a gent out of VA, Paragon Defense, who has lots of five mags for $206. The mags have come down in price.
As for Sig quality, Cohen has stripped away the quality control to the point that the current 556 lineup is more fit for airsoft than professional use. Take a look at the Swiss 553s in SMG Lee's photos. Notice the number of spot welds to the bolt guide rails, trunion, etc and compare that to the 556. The Swiss also furnace braze the components together. Sig USA uses thinner steel and very much slumps on the welds.
Precision manufacturing? Compare a Sig Sauer USA railed handguard to a Swiss model. See how much play there is in the Sig USA version and the Swiss locks up rock solid with no movement.
Look at the quality of accessories Sig USA continues to include with their rifles. It is patently ridiculous.
Because I trust the word of others who have purchased more Sigs than any single person would in a lifetime, and have had to send the entire lot back.
It's not confidence inspiring when you know the track record.
That's fine and all but whenever Sig's QC is brought up, it's always hearsay like this: "Well someone I know said . . ." Rare is the occasion where the particular individual complaining about QC can directly testify to the matter. I mean I trust you but you realize what you said is just kind of vague?

Glocks used to be known for their reliability prior to the Gen4. M&Ps have thrived on hype despite S&W's track record of producing the shittiest semi-auto handguns on the planet.
I'll stop my derailing of this thread by stating that there may very well be a QC problem with respect to the rifles - I've seen the problems first hand. Any complaints regarding the bread and butter pistols I believe are grossly exaggerated and the result of people parroting information they've heard on the Internet.
Nice photos SMG, thanks for posting.
It's a rail fixin to give birth to a baby rail.
Colt has gone full cuckoo!
You hit the nail on the head with this one; compare it to the H&K IAR entry and it leaves you scratching your head as to WTF Colt was thinking when they created that monstrosity... I don't think Colt has any accredited firearm engineers working for them.
Because I trust the word of others who have purchased more Sigs than any single person would in a lifetime, and have had to send the entire lot back.
It's not confidence inspiring when you know the track record.
And the same could be said about EVERY brand. I agree that some things need to change at SIG, but the Classic P22X series is typically gtg. Again, the same can be said about every manufacturer. H&K needs to learn how to make a profit, S&W also needs to fix the plethora of problems that the M&P has had, and stop selling Chinese accessories like SIG, and Glock needs to fix the Gen4's and 3.5's.
All of that would happen if we lived in a perfect world.

LOL @ the RIS II that's installed incorrectly. Hope they do it right from the factory and that it was just a small mistake.
I'm hoping they discontinue the URX-IIs, and produce URX-III, and 3.1s exclusively.
Does anybody have any data on weather or not the URX 3.1 will be produced in 10 3/4''?...
I don't get this line of thinking at all. The midlength urx II is a great rail and not in need of replacement. In fact, I think it would be a great mistake to discontinue the mid urx II. Not everyone has bought into the slick rail fad. While I like the URXIII on my SPR build, it limits your options depending on the rifle configuration.
Trust me when I tell you it's not blind regurgitation.
It's not for me to say who this person is - if they want to they can pipe up and say it publicly. It was told to me 1 on 1 - and as such will stay that way.
I trust the individual and that's enough for me. You can take it or leave it as you please.

I'm really hoping they make these in the 11in flavor for my 12.5 SBR. If they do, I'm sold on which rail I'll be using.
I like the R4 and the R5. I also like the removable grip on the new ACR.
I can't figure at all why they didn't do that right off the bat? The Scar and XCR and all these other rifles in the "non-ar" category all have them, don't they?
Trust me when I tell you it's not blind regurgitation.

Again, so what? As LAV just said in the "ask a SME" section, NO gun manufacture is perfect. They are all pumping out guns in record numbers and at times like this, a few more slip through the cracks.
I've seen waaay more Glocks and M&P's go down than SIG P22X series(new or old), but does that mirror everyone elses experience? No.

The new 6/12 attachment design eliminate the need for PALS webbing and also the heavy MOLLE straps and snap buttons. this eliminate close to 50% of the weight from similiar plate carrier design with MOLLE attachment.

Still getting used to the look of the SCAR stock, but the integrated QD cup makes me want it, and if they solved the cheap rattly feel of the OEM stock, then I'm definitely in.
I think I'll reserve judgement on the rail until I get some idea of how easy it is to mount rail sections to. The length is nice though.

Where can one pre-order? I don't see it on their website.

This is what Wilcox specialize in, custom military work, on demand and in short time frame. This particular NVG mount unit was requested by an overseas customer to out fit their operators with a dual monocular mount. this mount can operate in single tube unit ot in conjunction with an additional tube to create a binocular unit. each NVD can independently flip up or down, can be adjusted to various eye angle. and a free floating magnetic rod are used to turn the unit on or off by fliping the NVD up or down.

It is interesting how some of this stuff, like the cheek pieces for example, bring back things that were used in ancient times.

Now, how about a SCAR 17 PMAG?
And yes, it CAN be done, because people are modifying those POS Thermold FAL magazines by simply cutting a hole in the side for the mag catch. I know a PMAG is a much higher quality material than whatever Thermelts are made out of, so come on....quit it with the 'it doesn't work' and just make some.
FN said FAL mags couldn't be made to work either, and I have four that run great.

Any information on availability, and models of helmet covers for the AirFrames?
Might resort to DIY, but I'd happily overpay for one direct from Crye
Crye has been selling Airframe covers for almost a year for $50.

What is that newer face shield thing above the AirFrame helmet? Is that just an add on to a regular ACH helmet?
I was standing about 3 feet from LAV when they were filming that segment. :)
Anyway - not being a door kicker (and needing the actual customization of molle) I have always preferred preconfigured gear as it was always lighter than 1000D molle rigs etc.
With these new BFG mag pouches and carriers like the new Crye I could see the weight of a final product being less than half of an existing 1000d setup with realistically the same durability.
Very interesting indeed.

Yes, it is;

For years the Broco Torch was the industry standard in exothermic breaching torches. Other torches have pretty much only been for routine industrial use.
As one Master Breacher once told me 'you will only ever need a Broco 10% of the time. But it is usually the only solution when you actually need it.'
It is nice to see Wilcox is offering other options.

If my previous post implied that Larue products were not GTG, that was not my intent.
I believe the machining of Larue products are also top notch.
That being said, a rifle of this type would certainly be used in the high round count, hard use environments in which parts that are tested in such a manner would be prefered.
Im not trying to start a pissing match over whether or not this testing is required or necessary. I only asked if this testing was now being conducted or not.
LaRue is probably going to sell a metric shit ton of the Costa Ludas rifle! Not only does it look great I'm sure its collectability will go through the roof!! Their polymer stuff looks great as well!
Toally agree...this is most exciting item from Shot show in my opinion. I want one!
I certainly hope it isn't. A bolt that is made to the standard but not proof fired will outlast one that has been proof fired.
Glad they finally came out with the triple m4 mag molle FB style attachment. The rover rig is pretty slick also, my dog will soon be tacticool.
Just realized they brought their website into 2012. Their old website was atrocious.

OK thanks.
Are people using that? It looks a little to aggressive for me as it looks like it would chew up everything it came in contact with from your hand to your clothing while you had it slung in front of you.
Why the "death" date? I realize that AAC as we've come to know it is probably dead, but they're still in business.

OK I understand now. I thought it was something for MIL/LEO to use when shooting out a window/door frame/over a barrier. My concern was that while it wasn't propped up against something it would just tear everything up.

How so? You can add rails.

Looks Good to me -where's the line start :)
I do hope they start engraving the U or S, or even Suppressed and Unsuppressed into the rails, so you can make sure you have the port selector on the right side.
I always forget which side it goes on and it usually ends up as the main frustration once I get to the range. So I appreciate that it's not engraved into the hybrid guns.

I just remember that the Left doesn't like sound suppressors and thus the port selector to the left is unsuppressed.

Agreed really looking forward to getting one of these hybrids hopefully will have the engraving which is a nice Larue detail ....what are your muzzle attachment choices
Would love a date and estimated price for the UDC.
It looks like the next step in evolution of the Urban Assaulters Vest, which Entrygear tactical has in Ranger Green.
Does anyone know if the Mod 1 rifles (or uppers) are shipping yet?
I'd like to see a shortened AR receiver set with a purpose built polymer magazine for the 6x35. It would subsidize PDW magazines.

Any date on the MMAC? It seems like a pretty neat upgrade to what everyone else is offering...

I have been looking into acquiring a .308 rifle this year and I am really turned in to the setup of the predatobr. Is there any news about a possible release date yet?

I've heard something like 3-4 ounces.
Lots of cool looking shit and I have no idea what most of it does. LOL
Tell me about that aftermarket brightness knob on the Aimpoint T-1.
How so? You can add rails.
Not yet you can't. And when add on rails become available, what will they cost? What will they weigh? How will they compare in profile to the standard rail? I can get the URX II or III for the same cost, so why spend the cash on additional rails? If you need the additional rail space, why not use a rail like the URX II to begin with? Personally, I would prefer not to have to worry about extra screws on the rails if I didn't have to. I'm not saying that the URX III is a bad rail, I own one on an SPR and it's a perfect fit for that rifle. I just think that there is room for both rails in the market and would hate to see the URX II discontinued due to the latest whims if the market.

It's been around for a while now. Available from KAC, lawmens or any stocking dealer.

Amazing how the Skorpion has evolved! :p
I think the P-07 is the Rodney Dangerfield of pistols. It didn't get the hype of the new FN 9/40 pistols, but it is a GREAT pistol.

Are some of those solid colored helmets supposed to the foliage green scheme or is that some other color?
Fantasic vest system. Very modular, fairly easy to adjust and comfortable! SMGLee, could you explain why one way of putting this together is "maritime" and the other is "land"
"A separate velcro attachment can convert the LAND-CIRAS style to Maritime-CIRAS style closure."
I have mine set up in the maritime manner, as it is easier to get it on and off - I see no advantage to the "land" set up.
Thanks for your time and excellent coverage of SHOT!!
SMGLee,
Any info word on the Sig 224? I was hoping to hear something about it coming from the show.
ETA: I've dealt with Sig customer service on numerous occasions for my agency and once for myself (Non-QC issue. A dealer sold me the wrong type of gun.) and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Prompt, courteous, and professional.
Personally I think that the P-Series design is a bit dated, WAY over priced, overly complicated, and generally a pain in my ass. (Give me a Glock any day!) However, I've never been let down my duty weapon.

Looks like Eagle is stepping up their game... The last Eagle product I bought was back in '05. Now if they can start manufacturing civilian stuff in the USA again I'd be sold.
although I "Glock" know...I still keep my eye's on CZ.
I transitioned to the Glock solely for my wife and have found I like them...but I still have the CZ in me...carried one for years.
searched and did not see this anywhere on the forum and i don't have enough posts to post in GD.

wow G33 looks great, whats the price tag and release date?
Would like to pick up one of those forends with the handstop for my Wilson Combat 12" SBS.
The only ones I've seen available are the ones without the handstop.
For the guys hating on the Zombie reticle: There's more to L-3 / EOTECH than the holographic sights. Their thermal viewers / sights are top notch. The CNVD-T, in particular, is an amazing product given its size and weight. The MTM's are also quite useful for a certain niche. Very grateful to have been able to use these products; they've absolutely increased our effectiveness and survivability.
I could care less if they want to sell a few Zombie reticle EOTECH's to the fantasy land crowd, as long as they keep producing incredible gear for the task and market that really matters. If the silly Zombie stuff is going to help keep the company "in the black," and allow them to fund their R&D and production of more great gear (particularly their Thermal line), then I say bring on the Zombie Apocalypse.
Found my answer on TOS, figured Id post it here. $213 for black or tan, 30mm or 1".

Colt has some very different designs going on
Don't know if it is happening but I've seen some of the uppers with the model "DDM4V5" or whatever engraved on it. Don't think it looks well on a real rifle, makes it look like some kind of airsoft gun.

They definitely make some eye appealing rifles...too bad a Maryland based company has very few dealers where we can actually handle the guns before we chunk down the coin.
I wonder why hardly anyone in MD sells LWRC Rifles??
Doesn't MD have an Assault Weapons Ban/Law like some of the other dumboKratic states?
Doesn't MD have an Assault Weapons Ban/Law like some of the other dumboKratic states?
Hey, CdJ,
MD has a list of guns it considers assault weapons. They are transferred like handguns here, meaning approval of you by the State Police and a waiting period is required.
LWRC definitely hit a home run with the ambi bolt catch/release. While I'll never give up any of my DI AR's, I will say that both my LWRC's have functioned 100% from day one.

I agree. Their lower looks like the best success for a truly ambi lower.
I'd rather stick with DI and keep things simple but their latest offerings are very tempting.
Is there any problem you've seen with carrier tilt in your LWRC's?
Thanks.

I've been shooting LWRC's since 2006 (my first was a 10.5" 6.8mm SPC M6A2) and I've never seen an issue with carrier tilt. My 5.56mm M6A2 just hit 14K rounds last month and the only thing I've replaced is the piston return spring that broke at ~10K (gun was still functioning normally and I found the spring while cleaning the gun after a class).

Last year, didn't LWRC show an adjustable carbine stock that was really short? What happened with that?

It's not in any of the pics here but it is on their UCIW and 300BLK PSD.
A few LM8's have hit dealers (gunbroker) and look to have the slanted slots on the top and bottom of the rail, yet their site has the shot show version with slots on top and holes on bottom ?????
Is there going to be 2 versions ???

My bad guys. I posted the above question in reference to the video Trey Knight did about their 2012 line. But if anybody knows what I am talking about and has any info it would be appreciated. I will drop a link to the video tomorrow.
