Have the opportunity to pick up a Gen 2 G17 with around 5K rds through it.

Background: Switched from HK's to Glocks around 1yr. ago. Have run several classes with a G17: no issues, so haven't worried about the current probs.

So, if I purchase the Gen 2 G17 and need to replace parts, am I looking at getting the same issues currently being felt?

Any help appreciated.

You shouldn't have major issues like the four if your asking but those issues have been ..fixed.

I have a glock 17 gen2 40k plus rounds changed recoil spring once, and one barrel ... all factory.

A Gen 2 G17 with 5K rounds is still young in its service life. And if need be replacement parts are in abundance.

5k is nothing. Change the recoil spring when it arrives to start a known count.

Excellent. Shoot more, worry about the internet less.

If you're worried about the extractor... Glock has been shipping the older machined extractors to armorers for replacement of 90/0 and 90/5 units as recently as last month. Expect that for some time, and there are plenty in the system.

I have three times that amount through my 1992 made G17. The thing has never given a lick of trouble.

Buy with confidence. The 2nd gen Glock full size guns are proven and solid guns that give little troubles ever.

You should be go to go with that low of round count. If you want extra piece of mind replace the springs but you should not have too. It never hurts to have spares.

I'd order all new spring, detail strip and examine parts as you replace, clean, lube, and reassemble....then search for mags....fast:D
