I have been contemplating buying the above but unfortunately I haven't been able to find to examine. I was able to find a USP 40 Compact over Christmas break to look over and I really liked the fit and feel of it. The fit for my hands (I have hands on the small side) seemed to be workable for me. My question is, is the 45c with the small back strap about the same circumference as the USP 40C? Perhaps a better explanation would be the M&P9c with the medium grip insert is my upper limit.

Thank you in advance.

If your dealer has them, handle a USP 45 Compact and a P2000 9mm. The HK 45C grip is about the size of the 45 compact but not as blocky, more rounded with the feel/texture of the P2000.

I really appreciate the quick response, however that isn't in the realm of possibilities right now. The only reason I was able to find the USP40 Compact was by getting 4 hours away from home. The dealers around me just don't carry that "fancy imported stuff". The one guy I use can order me what ever I want, but I will have to buy it just to find out if it fits my hand. I am currently carrying a M&P 9C so that would be my closest comparison.

I have both a USPc in .45 and a HK45c. They feel the same to me, and I have small hands.

I have never touched a M&Pc so I really cannot compare them.

If you have a S&W M&P 9C with a medium grip, you'll find the size of the HK45C is similar, although the shape of the two is different. We have both, and I find the grip sizes similar.

If this spurs any additional questions, please let me know.

I would say that the HK45C grip is pretty close in overall size to that of the USPc, though the newer pistol's grip is more "rounded." We transitioned to 45CTs a while back, and my buddy's USPc 40 grip felt pretty similar...

I too have "lady hands" and find the HK45C I own to be adequate. They are contoured, so they actually feel a tad smaller than the USPc series.

I think those of us with smaller hands find minor differences in the grip of weapons to be more pronounced than those with large hands. You should be fine with the HK45C.

I agree with this statement. I have a HK45c, and the grip is slimmer and not as thick as a Gen 3 Glock 19's and closer to a S&W M&P 9 in profile. This is because the HK45c uses single stack 8 round magazines. Moreover, the slide of the HK45c is blockier than a GLock 19 or 1911, due to the recoil spring system and firing mechanism.

Personally, I wish the HK45c had a larger back strap or at least an option to install one as such. I like the back hump on my Gen 3 Glock 19 and 17 models.

Hope this helps. You really can't go wrong with a HK45c.

Thanks to all who have replied. I going to have my gun guy go ahead and order it. His distributor has one in the warehouse so the wait shouldn't be too long. Guess I was just a little worried about the grip being too large for my little girl hands, after all HK isn't known svelteness.

*Disclaimer: I do not own an HK45C, however I have a shooting buddy who does, and have put few hundred rounds through it.*

This is not accurate. The HK45C and the HK45 use double stack magazines. Regardless I think the HK45C grips are just about the same thickness as a 1911, maybe just a touch thicker.

OP, the HK45C grip is longer than the M&P9C. I find I can only get my index and middle finger on the M&P9C grips, while I have no problem getting all 3 of my fingers around the HK45C grip, with a little bit of my pinky hanging off. I have medium-large hands.

I agree, the HK45 Series does not use a single stack magazine, more like a staggered stack, in between single and double stack.

Hope this adds some insight.

HK45C, 1911 gov, and M&P Pro 5" (not a compact but other than length grip width similiar.

Thanks for the replies. The HK45c is not a pure double stack mag as you pointed out (and neither is the HK45). I think it would be best then to call the HK45/45c series of mags as a 1 1/2 stack or "staggered" design then. I was wrong to call it a single stack, and I guess I should have stated something about the staggering instead.

Regardless, I'm glad chakup posted the photo. I haven't had time due to work.

Thanks for all of the help on this posting. Especially for the pics. The old "a picture is worth a thousand words" is certainly true in this case. Mucho thanks for those pics!

Not a problem! Let me know if want anything else. I can compare the grip to a few other platforms as well.

Again the compact would probably show a little better but hopefully this give some idea of an overall

Anytime man. Nothing compares to being able to hold them yourself, but hopefully the pics can help you narrow down options!

Love my hk45ct, but of course the DA is damn heavy. I treat it like a 1911 though, SA with safety on. The grip size is perfect, but i covered the sides with 3m safetywalk

Little known fact, the 45c's have a "match" hammer, and nickel sear spring. I just got done installing a shortened usp match hammer spring, a drilled and tapped trigger with overtravel stop, and as soon as the match TRS springs are back in stock it will have one of those as well.

The HK-45C and USP-45 Compact use the same magazines.
Baseplates may differ, but the magazine bodies are the same.
