Damn I want a PKM bad but damned if I can afford one. Anyone got any leads on decent priced PKM's?

Like a full auto? I don't think there are any full transferables out there. I think I saw a few semi-auto PK's but can't remember where.

The semis are going between $7k-$10k these days as well...double what they were new.

I would love to have the Polish(?) version, it's 7.62 NATO. If I could afford one belt fed auto that would be it. It think we both missed the boat on affordable semi PKMs.

I have seen a few on Gunbroker but most are in the 5K range and nobody is selling kits anymore.. I know VLTOR was doing kits and the building was by anotehr person.

I'd love a semi PKM. It will never happen up here in Canada tho. :(

I gew up in Eastern Europe and as a conscript, the only firearm I really loved from all the com block weapons I got to shoot, was the PKM. It was light, reliable, hard hitting and more accurate than everything else in the unit.
We would load every second round in the belt to get it shoot single shot and it would outshoot everything.

I'd get one right now if it was legal.:(

I sold a beautiful Hungarian kit with 6k or so of ammo about 3 months before the receivers came out. I should have held out a little longer.

The PKM is my dream gun. I had the opportunity to shoot a 150 round belt through a full auto one several years back. Make no mistake, it is a beast of a gun. Probably the most fun I've ever had shooting. But yeah, the cheapest I've ever seen them was at least $4000 for a Semi auto and that was a few years back. I'm inclined to think doing a kit build would be the way to go assuming you can snag a Vltor receiver for it.

I've always wanted to shoot a PKM.

I remember I had to test fire like a dozen new Yugo PK's back in Baghdad that we had purchased. I slammed 50 round belts into them and like an assembly line I grabbed one after the other and let 'em rip.

It was summer time and I was wearing shorts sleeves. Just so happens the the steel cases were ejecting right into my forearm as I was shooting and when I was done it looked like I had been attacked by a dull razor blade.

Yeah but I bet you were like a kid in a candy store on Christmas while getting blown by the hottest girl of your wildest fantasies. Or at least I would have been.

One of the very few gun transactions I regret.

Company guns, free ammo and lovely Iraq. What's not to love? No chicks though so the fantasy was incomplete.

UKM-2000 for 7.62x51 NATO in M13 link. Nice GPMG, not as good as PKM (slightly lower MTBF) but not bad at all. However there is much work to be done egronomy wise and in way to mount optics and accesoriess. There is proposed UKM-2013 upgrade in works, that look promising.

I would love to get ahold of a UKM-2000.

If you have an SOT, PKM's are available from Ohio Ordnance Works,(not sure if VLTOR still builds them or not). OOW also runs a decent PKM armorer package that i was fortunate to attend a while back.

The semi's were manufactured by MarColMar firearms and were a limited production run of 250 guns. They offered Russian,Hungarian, and Romanian versions. I was lucky enough to grab one of the Hungarian guns with one of their "Collectors kits" which contained spare ammo cans and belts, parts, transit chest, tripod etc when i was in Iraq.

Mine has seen just north of 40k rounds spread across 3 barrels and is still chugging along with no issues.

The trigger pull is VERY heavy...like 18lbs heavy but is manageable due to the weight of the weapon.

I bought a spare hungarian barrel and had it chopped to the gas block, with czech silver tip ball myself and friends have shot 1/2 sized ipsc steel out to 900 meters with it.

I installed an armadynamics QD picatinny optics mount on mine and run an Aimpoint T-1 with OEM mount. It has held zero for over 33k rounds with no issues. I also installed a railed handguard from blackheart international and picked up one of their 50 round soft ammo pouches (ala 249 nutsack) at the same time. I also run a US Palm AK battle grip, VLTOR bipod, offset vert grip from Krebs i believe and an el cheapo surefire G2 in a danger close consulting mount. Said gun is carried around (been trying to shoot an elk in the face with it) on the best MG sling ever made...the Vickers 240 sling.

All in all i have been very happy with mine. Future plans are some barrel chopping/barrel work/and working on a can for it \m/

They pop up for sale on gunbroker every once in a while for around 10k and up. The hungarian parts kits have all but dried up and of the few guys i have seen that tried to build their own semi auto systems no one ever finished one that ran correctly fyi.

Various pics of it throughout its life.

Is it possible to get a PKC over here? I fell in love with them in Iraq but I can't find anything about them over here, I guess it looks like a pks?
