View Full Version : Latest 14" Build (FDE) w/ BCM, KAC, & AXTS
I ended up parting out my .22 as I was too poor to have so much tied up in a .22LR. I used the parts I had painted and rebuilt my latest carbine.
Upper
BCM Upper Receiver (M4 Cuts)
BCM 16" Mid Length CHF barrel cut, crowned, and rethreaded to 14"
SureFire MB556K
BCM BCG, BCM GFCH MOD 4
KAC URX III
KAC Micro Sight
Lower
AXTS A-DAC-F (w/ bolt hold on mag release)
LMT LPK
Geissele SSA
Vltor A5 Receiver Assembly w/ Vltor IMOD
Magpul MOE w/ the CR123 grip (2 extra batteries for the EOTech)
I had the upper receiver, rail, lower, rail panels, KAC micro sight body and EOTech hood refinished in Magpul FDE cerakote.

Super soft shooting, feels a lot softer then my SR-15. I've run 300 rounds of PMC Bronze, 200 rounds of 77gr PPU OTM, 300 rounds of Federal XM193 through it without issue. I'm very happy how it turned out.
Is the MB pinned, or is it a SBR?
You have some of the best looking guns ive seen on this board.
Thanks for the Centurion/URX3 upper...its a fantastic barrel, im sold on them.
cheers-

Thanks brother! The Centurion barrels are the nicest CHF I've used (or maybe I just got lucky).
I'm definitely using another one in my next build. I only went with BCM this time because I wanted to give them a shot and I found one for less then $200 on the EE.

MB is pinned. I had a friend pin it, grind it down smooth, and then I refinished the brake with graphite black.
that is a VERY nice rifle! good job.
Very nice rifle indeed. You did have the nicest 22lr I had ever seen though.

Beautiful but I hate the brake.
Beautiful but I hate the brake.
Fair enough!
Very nice! I have a Noveske lo pro 14.5 middy with that same brake.
It's loud, but it has no kick and that's with fed m193 ammo.
Man I love that thing. I've noticed you have had a few KAC rails on your guns. Where is your honey hole of them at?

Nice rifle man. What other barrels are you comparing the Centurion with?

Thanks!
I've owned the following chromed barrels BCM BFH, Noveske CHF, DD CHF, KAC CHF, PSA (FN) CHF, LMT, and Colt.
Obviously not comparing it to SS barrels.

I bought a few sets from Lawmens when they were first released.
Thanks!

Really? You like the Centurion better than all of those? Based on anything provable or just general opinion? Not doubting you, just curious.

I'm pretty sure they're all similar (I believe FN makes barrels for 4 of them). While I did not perform any strict testing my Centurion Arms barrels grouped noticeably tighter then the rest of them. I don't know if it was simply luck of the draw or if Monty's tapered bore and crown (Monty cuts down his 14.5" barrels from 16") had anything to do with it.
Brother, this is a nice carbine. I love it. Im usually not a fan of flawless looking rifles and prefer the "used" look. But, my friend this one ROCKS! Love all of it.
Cheers

Gotcha, thanks for the insight.

Nice blaster. I have been thinking of putting together something like this with the extra lower I have sitting around.
Sexy. Great build, great photos.

Wow! Nice work. I want to do the same with my Noveske build (still in progress). Are you happy with the Magpul shade of FDE Cerakote?
Wouldn't want to detract from your pics but those who like your sweet rifle might also like this guy's,

Can't stop looking at this. Looks sweeeettt!
Thanks for the comments guys!
As far as the color, its what I wanted and couldn't be happier.
Most of my (non gun) friends don't understand it however (and much prefer the black).
As usual buckjay you are the michaelARngelo of gun parts around here.

absolutely beautiful. Did you do all the coating?
Very sick, can do a close up of the grip and lower color variation?

Geez...that's beautiful. It may be bad form to ask, but I will anyway: how much $ do you have into that bad boy?
Thanks for the kind words jax, coues, Chrisdiz, Firecop, Strawman.
coues7:
Cerakote was done by Larson Tactical
FireCop:
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the grip/lower color match close up, but its very close.
