We’ve got to have the best customers you could find anywhere... every day we are constantly reminded of how good it is to have great clients to work for... and, as in the case of this gun, patient ones too. ;)

The pistol pictured here belongs to a customer who, despite probably waiting a good bit longer than he should have, hung in there with us and even though he had every right to be was never pushy or even inquisitive as to why his project was taking as long as it was... he’s the kind of customer that knew once it was his turn at the bench he was going to get the best gun we could build him. So with that in mind I set out to give him his moneys worth and then some... and Ted jumped in to help create something a much more special than usual.

The gun was your typical Colt Commercial Gov’t Model... a nice base gun but goofy lines, a not even there frame and slide fit, and overall a platform with really nice roll-marks just waiting for someone to make it something more than your run of the mill “C” stamped Government Model. Typical of a Best Grade gun, I hand fit the frame and slide, added a Kart barrel with EGW bushing, complete line straightening, best quality trigger job, Wilson beavertail, extended thumb safety, bordered slide, PG sights with gold line front, hand-cut checkering (this one at 20lpi), serrated rear of the slide, as well as all the other functional upgrades an ‘all-the-way’ gun deserves along with the host of cosmetic niceties the customer desired.

When it cam time for the stocks panels I handed the gun over to Ted so he could cut, whittle, and shape a gorgeous set of English Walnuts to the frame... but he also had a neat idea for the slide top. The client knew he wanted the slide top flattened and serrated but he also requested something a bit different than we’d done before. So after a bit of head scratching, a dash of plotting and math as well as some serious mill time he ended up with the pattern seen below... cool doesn't even begin to describe it.

After all that we sent the gun to our trusty hard-chromer for a nice thick application of chrome to keep this gun looking good for years to come. This is one of those guns that when I was finished with it I thought seriously about trying to sneak it out the back door. But, this customer had waited a good while and patiently to boot so I figured he deserved it a bit more than I :D ... enjoy the pictures!

Beautiful work, I mean really, really well done. The owner cannot help but be happy I would think. The leather is very nice as well. Who makes it if I may ask?

Dang! These threads make it hard for me to completely write off the 1911 as a modern carry option.

Beautiful pistol. Attention to detail is where outstanding work differentiates from average work.

Gents... thanks so much for the feedback... we always appreciate the time you take to respond. :)

The leather kit is made by Alex Nossar of Peru. Alex is a very talented and detail oriented maker and his holsters and gear are functional, well thought out, and very concealable.
