Can someone explain to me how/if this could be incorporated onto an existing rifle? That's the best looking flip up I've ever seen, and I think it would fit seamlessly onto my VIS. But I already have a gas block in my upper built by Rifle Gear:

-Colt SOCOM 14.5 (carbine gas system - 1/7 twist)
-VLTOR VIS 2 9" mono upper (BILLET)
-VLTOR lo pro gas block
-COLT carbine gas tube (specialized armament)
-AAC 51T SPR MITER

Would this sight in the link be possible to incorporate?

It looks very much like you could put it in front of your current rail since the barrel doesn't step down for a couple inches. Without actual dimensions of each part, it's going to be tough to figure out from pictures. Rainier has excellent customer service so call them and get the length from them. That QD has to get hot as hell at times, though.

I would mount a sight on the rail. The clamp on type of gas blocks/ sights are not very good and are known to weaken and loosen.

I can see that. This is largely aesthetic. This is almost my perfect rifle:

The placement of the AFG shows the "less than ideal" nature of that rail/FSB combination. Run a couple of mags through it and the FSB is hot enough to melt gloves. There is a reason why everyone is running rails 10"-12" long these days, even with fixed FSB's.

Paint looks good, set up does not. To reiterate kmrtnsn's post, that set up is miles from ideal. It's actually forcing some semblance of an ideal support hand position on a rifle that is not configured for such.
To answer your question... No, it's not possible. You have an M4 barrel, the step down of which, prevents you from completely clamping that thing on. That, on top of the fact that the thicker part of the exposed barrel is a bit less than .750", which I am not sure provides enough surface diameter for the GB to clamp onto.

for the reasons croc mentioned above, the M4 profile won't allow you to mount the vltor gas block. you need .750 under both clamps.

i do have an upper with the vltor gas block installed as just a front sight. the upper below is a carbine gas system, so i have a shaved front sight base under the 10" VIS. the barrel is .750" from the gas block to about 3/4" behind the muzzle - no M4 step.
i had the parts, and thought that it was a 'cleaner' look than having a rail mounted front sight.

this configuration later became more important when i mounted a DBAL on the upper and had to figure out my switching options. i wanted white light in addition to the DBAL, so i got an SR-D-IT dual pressure switch that fit the DBAL and a surefire light. i'm a lefty, and wanted the switch at 1:30, for better ergonomics, instead of at 3 o'clock. so, i modified the switch to fit between the rails instead, and also modified a rail panel to retain it. rear button for DBAL, front for white light. having a rail mounted front sight would not allow me to mount the switch in that location, so it all worked out in the end.

That looks GREAT! Thanks, MM. And thanks also, everybody else. In my mind it looked to be perfect from an operator's perspective. Tight, compact, and minimalist. The heat factor would end that fun fast I can see. This is where I have it now:

I don't like the Magpul flip ups. Can't put my finger on it, but they are my only gripe with the current configuration. Pardon the photo, I was goofing around with a Mag link when I took it, sorry.
