I picked this up the last weekend at my LGS. I've put a 100 rds through it and can't wait to put some down range with it. I really like the "MADE IN USA" part. :D

I haven't seen one in person as of yet to fondle....what's the sticker price on them? I see that Remington is also coming out with a R1 Commander. Must be the new trend this year, tho I love the Commander size for carry.

I have also. Functions well.

Only issue I had with mine, was that out of the box, the thumb safety did not positively engage the sear.

It engaged it enough to prevent hammer fall, but not enough to prevent absolute movement.....FAIL.

I had to replace it to ensure safety.

Do these have the mag capture issue that the Government model has?

Not that I'm aware off.

I paid $699 out the door in Alaska. No sales tax up here. Function has been 100 % through the first 100 rds. I did handle a few they had on hand and one of them did have a slightly loose frame to slide fit. Mag lock up seems GTG, on mine at least.

Very nice. Sure looks tempting; however, I need an ambi safety.

It followed me home !
(That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ! :D )

Put 150 rds through it yesterday.Fed perfectly, extraction was quite positive to say the least.

Ammo was limited to some UMC bulk pack (very dirty ).
Next week I will run some Ranger through it.
Accuracy wise,I think it needs to "settle in " as by the time I finished shooting the groups were getting considerably tighter.

That's a good looking gun and the price is right. If they offered it in blue I'd be very tempted to buy one.

Ive seen them for $699 as well, a great price for what seems to be a well put together 1911. Would love to see a hard use range report.

Sure would be nice to find bulk ammo at a good price point.

A guy on armslist was selling an unfired LNIB fullsize SR1911 but I just barely missed it. But it's OK because I found two used W. German Sig P220's for $500 each.

How much did the Ruger SR1911 sell for?

$775. I'm not sure how long the add was up, less than a day, but since I've never seen one in person and everyone seems to be trying to find one I figured it wasn't too out of line and I could have made my money back if I didn't like it.

I've been wanting one some kinda bad! My LGS has yet to get one in, but I guess that's what I get for buying one of two S&W Shields they got in:D

They still have them in stock at my local gun shop. They might ship. I can ask if you are interested.

I just saw one today that the store just got in. It was $699.00, if I recall correctly.

I do not own one, maybe it was just the one I handled at my local gun shop but the fit/finish seemed loose, several parts seemed to rattle. Looks like a nice piece, just not sure. Would like to see some updated range reports.

Got one also, it's a nice companion to my SR1911 5".

First off, I would like to ask everyone to take the two minutes it takes and contact your elected officials regarding gun control. Ruger has provided a form letter that is electronically generated. All you've got to do is fill in your name, email address, etc. The letter will be automatically sent to your local and Federal officials.

OK. On to the pics.

The gun is a true Commander length in that it uses a shortened recoil spring guide and plug. Also note the short barrel bushing. No Series 80 parts are used and the gun even has the fat Colt Commander-style ejector. The exterior surfaces are nicely beveled and the interior surfaces are nicely machined and finished.

The gun includes two flush-fit magazines, a zippered pistol pouch and a manual. Also included is the usual trigger/gun lock.

Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see and I'll try to get a photo.

No full length guide rod....yay!

True Series 70 internals as well....another plus.

Looks really nice and for the price...hard to beat.

I know it is not a 2-3000 dollar Wilson or Baer so some here will poo poo it but with a few tweaks it could be a really nice carry pistol.

I own 5 Baers and a couple of Ed Brown KOBRA's,and I can say that the Ruger has it's place in my collection as well.

It's not as tight as a Baer product, nor as well finished as a Brown, but for what your paying,it is a great value.

I bought mine purely because of the price( I got it at dealers cost as I work in a gun shop ).

But,after putting nearly 1k rds through it with only 3 FTF (230 GR "CRITICAL DEFENSE),I think the gun is worth considering even at retail.

Now. Why would you buy this over say... a Colt Commander?

Not an insult to the Ruger guns, but I'm curious.

After handling one a little (FS not Commander) it seems better than the garbage Taurus, RIA, SIG, or even many Kimbers I've handled.

I'm curious if Ruger's model has any specific features that people like.

Price would do it for me !:D

Actually,as I said, the price point is the sole reason I bought mine.

Now,if it was priced the same as a XSE Commander,or even a 1991 Commander,no way.

One reason for me would be the lack of the Series 80 Firing Pin Safety. Still wish Ruger would make their 1911s' in carbon steel.

I like the lack of front cocking serrations. I actually don't mind them as far as looks but my Colt XSE LW Commander has them and thus my only gripe is they chew up my leather holster.

+1. I really like the look and feel of the smooth slide.
