My YouTube channel is mostly geared towards title2 firearms like machineguns, SBR's, SBS's, AOW's, and Silencers. I enjoy helping people learn about silencers and show them how easy it is to obtain their own. That being said I was asked by one of my subscribers to do a video on my title1 carry gun. 340pd is next on my concealed carry list. Current list includes a Glock 23, Glock 19, and a Ruger LCP.

Good video and I really like what you did with it (new sight and Esmeralda grips). I have a 360PD with the Crimson Trace Grips (they are a great addition to a J frame pistol). I am looking to pick up a 442/642/340PD. If I get one, I am definitely installing the APEX J Frame kit in it.

In the last few months I have been returning to my revolver days....picked up a 686 2.5 inch that is now my second favorite off duty weapon, next to the 360PD.

I love my 638. It goes just about everywhere with me. I say that as I sit here just getting back from jogging with a M&P 9c in a belly band.

I managed to pick up a 340PD with laser grips for cheap from a buddy recently. Really looking forward to running it and seeing how it stacks up to my 642. Never could justify the $ for the 340 vs. 642 around here but a deal is a deal...been bit by the revolver bug big time lately.

I've been carrying a 340PD for about 6 years..CTs are pretty much a must
(for me anyway-glasses)
All day, every day...love it. Great little revolver.

Thanks for posting that video, the 340pd is on a very short list for me as a new ccw. Looking for something with more umph than a 9mm.

I think S&W has retired the 340PD. But it's my daily carry, too!

Thanks for the review. It helped me decide to go ahead and get one. I just got a 340 M&P .357 mag with no lock. :D I really like the tritium front sight. It will replace my 442 AirLite .38+P for times when I need something smaller than my Glock 30SF to carry.

I guess I am the only one that didnt find the CT grips did much except act as a distraction. With the Ashley front, the red dot was just in the way.

Remember. The laser will be much quicker in extreme low light or against moving opponents. It also makes dry fire practice more useful.

For me, negative on the low light or moving targets in practice. That is with a flashlight of course. I can see the advantage for dry fire.

Keep in mind, a laser provides a significant speed advantage in getting your lead on target accurately without the need for using the sights, at all, if necessary. A laser provides accuracy in a wide range of unconventional shooting positions that simply aren't possible without one.

Potentially a huge advantage in high stress situations....and any advantage is worth having.

For those considering the 340PD, you might want to look at the M&P 340CT.

A few improvements over the 340PD.

Tritium front sight
No lock (available)
Noticeably better trigger than the PD
Comes with CT's best J-Frame grips
Stainless cylinder v. titanium (slight added weight actually is a good thing here)
All black v. 2-tone (asthetics here, but I like it)
