I've got two ARs, one with a mil spec collapsible stock and the other with a fixed A2 rifle stock. The felt spring pressure when the charging handle is pulled is noticeably more with the A2 stock rifle than with the Collapsible stock gun. Is this normal? Could the A2 stock gun have a carbine buffer spring in it? ( I bought that gun used). Both guns cycle and eject fine, by the way.

This'd be a case where the fact that the gun runs fine is a better litmus test than what something feels like, but you can still check your springs to ensure they're as they ought to be.

Top of the AR Technical page, there are stickied threads, including the following: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=7009

Found within that: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=6827

See the 7th post for correct spring lengths. If not within the specified length, replace.
