Ok guys,

A buddy of mine took this pic of his Gen 4 22.

I ain't no genius but I'm pretty sure this is BAD.

He wasn't shooting anything hot, no Kaboom. The gun just felt wrong in recoil after the last round.

He said Glock is asking him to send it in; they were less than direct in providing a position as to whether they would replace the frame under warranty or not. I honestly can't imagine that they wouldn't...

Has anyone else seen this on the Gen 4 or any Glocks?

Thanks.

Sparky

Looks like a manufacturing defect to me, so I'd assume this falls under warranty. https://www.m4carbine.net/images/smilies/confused.gif

I've seen dustcover issues when...

...someone is messing with the serial number plate, from above or below.
...someone gets an accessory stuck on the rail, and muscles it off.
...someone "improves" or modifies the rail dims in some way.
...a VFG is installed and muscles off the gun.

Low stress area, not subject to excess heat, friction, or impact. Not impossible that it's a defect, but not my first thought.

Let's see some clearer pics.

That stinks! Im sure Glock will replace it with no fuss. I wouldn't worry.

That does not look good. Never seen anything like that. Glock has great customer service. Out of curiosity, did that frame have the infamous "pig nose" that someone tried to fix with boiling water? I have read somewhere that boiling water can create weakness in polymer frames. Let us know what they tell your friend.

Weird stress no idea but firing stress is not what comes to mind when I see that pic...

I knew that 40SW Glocks had problems with mounted lights, but that is ridiculous...:D

Does he have a rail mounted bayonet?

Like most people, I've seen all sorts of kBs and such from various manufacturers. I don't believe I have ever seen anything like this. Odd for a low stress part

I bet they'll do the right thing.

Thanks y'all.

SkinTop,

I don't what he was doing besides shooting but this guy doesn't seem like a tinkerer.

I think Glock will do the right thing too.

I was just curious if any Gen 4s had a track record.

Thanks.

I have a few Gen4s. One has been beat hard and nothing like that happened. Hope they take care of it.

Holy hell!!! I haven't seen anything like that before. It seems Glock generally does right by people though

Not sure why your friend would expect Glock to take a position without first inspecting the gun.

I'm sure they'll replace the frame, but the serial # won't match bbl and slide.

I really think you should rename this thread a "Major problem with a single G4 G22" or some such. There is no evidence this is a model-wide problem.

THAT was my point...to see if this was more than a sample of 1. It looks that it's just that. I'm sure Glock will fix it. I just wanted to check and see if there were any others out here.

I have seen that once before on a gen 3. IIRC it turned out to be a case of bad polymer out of the mold. Happens some times in any plastic product.
