Saw on the local new tonight that the TSA body scanners are being pulled.

Courts ruled the images were to explicit and had to be redesigned to generate a more generic image that did not display body parts, when the company that made them could not they decided to remove them and replace them with a different machine.

Should be interesting.

On the one hand, yay!

On the other hand, it'll probably just result in more groping.

It is just one type of scanner that is going -- the X-ray backscatter type.

The millimeter wave scanners are still there.

And I'm STILL not flying.

They can cop a feel on you, and squeeze YOUR nuts...

I haven't flown since they started this crap but I thought if I had to, I would get some lead based paint and paint "Suck It" with an arrow.:D

You'll notice NO mention of the potential Cancer risks only the privacy issues etc.

Before the "Tin Foil Hat Brigade" predictably opine, I guess the Agent Orange, Herbicide Orange (HO) Agent LNX, DU, Q-metal, depletalloy or D-38 et al didn't happen either.

How about testing it before experimenting on our population before it's FULL spectrum of risks are KNOWN ?

You'll notice for those whom even come close to paying attention that they still refuse to submit to independent third party testing.

I travel regularly.

I have never gone through anything other than a metal detector.

You can too.

The first step is to use your situation awareness and choose the line that does not have a scanner.

That works half the time.

If not, When they ask you to step through , kindly inform them that you're "opting out".

You will generally get a courteous pat down.

They keep track and have to check off every time someone does this.

If EVERYONE did this, the TSA would have to stop using scanners.

Most people don't realize the power WE have and give up their rights individually.

I don't like the pat downs either. Several women have said fingers have penetrated their private areas because they are sticking their hands inside people's pants. Every rape law I know of says ANY penetration is rape no matter how slight.

They are doing these pat downs on kids, too.

Bottom line is its sexual assault you are being subjected to if you don't want the scanners. My wife has flown twice since they started this but only because she wanted to see her dad before he died of cancer, and the 2nd time was for his funeral. Other than those types of situations we don't fly. I haven't flown since 2008. Before that I was flying 6+ times a year on 4 day weekends and leave.

On the way back from Shot last night, a younger woman went on a rant that went something like "I pay my F'ing taxes, I'm married to a military man, I've never committed F'ing a crime in my life, I'm an American citizen & this is how I get treated? I'm sick of this bullshit!" The TSA goons simply ignored her. I gave her a thumbs up. Although, had a man said those things, the outcome would likely have been different.

This is very disturbing.

These scanners were helping keep our country safe. Who cares if the Government has been taking naked pictures of people?

Also radiation is not a big deal, its actually not as bad for you as these tin foil nuts make it seem. So all the conspiracy theorists need to shut the hell up about radiation poisoning.

I for one have no problem handing over my 4th amend rights to feel safer. You guys need to take your tin foil hat off and thank the TSA for keeping our airways safe.

We Opt out every time and my wife, daughter and son always have female TSA do the pat downs who seem to purposely stay away from directly touching the breast or lower crotch area during the 10 to 15 second search.

I believe they size up your family visually and if they determine the threat level as being very low then its just a going Thu the monitions kind of thing.

The last time I flew, I was flying back from Honolulu International Airport and as we boarded the TSA JBTs were herding us all through the scanner lines. I asked two male TSA JBTs "I have the option to refuse to be scanned and get patted down right?" They said "yes". So I opted for the pat down. The little twerp become very uncomfortable at this point and I could tell that he did not want to have to search me. He then asked me "Would you like to go somewhere private?" I laughed out loud and said "No thank you I have nothing to hide". The expressions on the faces of the sheep that were waiting in line for their radiated porn debut were priceless . . . "OMG what did he do?!?!?"
