I carry and compete with a SIG P226 in 9mm. I love it, it fits my hand better than just about anything and it gets the job done.

My first SIG was actually a Browning BDA, a SIG P220 imported by Browning with a high polish blue finish....wish I still had that thing.......:o

Over the years I've owned European and American style P220's in .45 ACP, P226's, and a P230 and for a brief period of time, a P210.

I think they make great guns......just wondering who else is a SIG fan....

I for one am a SIG fan. I have a SIG 229R DAK in 357. Have the Houge Grips for it and it helps. I am trying to fight off the urge to splurge on a 239SAS.

I like SIGs a lot too.

My first Sig was a 220 that I bought used for $400 and it looks/runs great. I carried it off duty for a long time loaded with Black Talons.

I also got a used P226 in .40 that is very nice - an officer traded it to a friend and then I bought it for $400. Shot great from the start and in great shape. I only had to reverse the mag release back to the left side of the frame since I'm a right handed shooter and he was a lefty. Took me all of 5 minutes at most.

Sigs make a really nice pistol.

I'd like to shoot the new DAK trigger to see what they're like.

I still have my first Sig (till death do us part), a Browning BDA .45 which I got brand new (in the early 80s?). :D

Back then I usually carry the BDA or my Walther PPK/S .380 when I had my CCW in Seattle, WA.

I bought my P226 9mm new when they first came out in the market (mid 80s?) and it's my favorite 9mm and HD gun, my other 9s are Glock 19, CZ-75 (Swiss made clone), Beretta 92S and I used to have a HK P7M8 also a Beretta 92FS.

When my father turned 65 y/o a few years ago, I gave him a .357 Sig P229 for his birthday present.

I'm saving up for a new GSR Revolution Nitron Rail which would be my next Sig.

Sigs are the best out-of-the box brand IMHO.

I am not a fan of the SIG. The trigger reset usually stinks and the high bore to hand axis just makes it feel weird to me. I hate the von stavenhagen bar dot sights. In my experience, they are more finicky than just about any other top make of pistol in that they don't run when dry.

That said, if I had to carry a SIG, I would get over it and be happy.:D

I like the Glocks here, but if I ever needed to keep a boat from moving I could attach some rope to a Sig!!:D (get it....boat anchor)

J/K, I have a 226 9mm and a 229 in .40

I like to shoot them, but I carried the 226 every day for about 3 years on and off duty and I could not keep that heavy POS from rusting up. The 226 is a very reliable weapon as well as a smooth shootin piece.

We switched to Glocks and have been happy ever since.

I like Sigs too.

I've had a few 9mm P226's, but my latest is a P226R w/ NS and it is a tackdriver. It's my favorite one so far. IMO, the P226 is the best 9mm made.

I also have a P225 that I will never part with.

Seeing as I just got my first and only P220 a month or so ago and I'm still in the break in period, the verdict is out.

She is accurate though, and I like the night sights as an added feature. I like the weight and grip angle (similar to the 1911) but I do agree the bore axis sits rather high off the hand. Also, being a 1911 shooter, I may have to emulate some Sig Instructors by wrapping my strong hand thumb over top of my support hand to ensure I'm not riding the slide stop lever; however, I'm not sold on changing my grip just yet.

So, Templar. When are you going to teach me how to shoot that thing?

I have owned several over the years a 226 in 9mm, a 220 which I no longer have and miss very much a 2340 in .40cal still at home and my current 'Baby' is a 229 Gov't Model in .40cal I lucked and got it Sept 2004 as the ban was sunsetting.
I called to get specs from SIG such as born on date 8-2004 finish type NITRON etc just to be sure the SKU# on the box was correct while I was waiting on my paperwork ,and the SIG rep sez to me when I read him the serial#
"How did you get that?" I half expected for SIG to contact the gun shop and get it back as mysterious as he got after I read the serial number to him??
My wife and I were at Nassau Gun shop in St Charles MO, they have a lot of handguns and I saw the 229 held it and handed him my credit card when I saw what it was I really held it no more than that before I picked it up and took it home. I have always trusted SIG's due to their patented firing pin safety system and I like their weight which was unnerving at first growing up on S&W's it just did not seem like a real gun.
But IMO they are the best weapon of its type money can buy right out of the box.
Question why would anyone want to shoot an unlubricated gun ?

I personally wouldn't dig a whole with a SIG. It is mostly the double action trigger that gets me. I pull the first shot and push the second one. Then after I am done using the weapon, I have remember to decock it before holstering.

Then again, I am a 1911 (cocked and locked baby). :D

To the SIG's credit, I saw a State Dept. guy shoot lights out with his SIG. His practice time with it was through the roof though.

I've shot them on many occasions and think they're good pistols. My cousin has a 9mm 226 that he is quite fond of.

I hate da/sa triggers, don't like the high bore axis, and don't like that it needs to be wet as hell to run. Other than that I like the grip angle and I like the way they feel in my hand. They seem to be very reliable but so are many other pistols. The single action pull is very nice on all the ones I've shot but the da/sa trigger still takes to much practice to get proficient with and seems to be an answer looking for a problem. When it comes down to it, it doesn't do one thing better than my Glock can do for a whole lot less money.

Liked them more when I lived in the Great White North and had to wear heavy gloves. I can get used to the DA trigger set up, but like Grant, years of 1911s and Glocks havent habituated me to remembering a decocking lever.

I had a P220, and still have a P226, but its rarely shot and kept mostly for sentimentality.

That said, I see a guy with a well worn Sig in his holster and Im certaining not thinking window licker based on his weapon choice.

I like 'em but I'm not fond of the two trigger pulls. I'd rather a Sig with single action only. I don't like the decocking lever of the Sigs. I'm an H&K USP guy. I must admit that I do like the single action pull of the Sigs. I shoot well with the P226 and the P220 but the first double action pull doesn't work for me.

I carry a SIG model as my issued working pistol. While a solid & reliable piece it is a distant 3rd in my book to a (1) Quality 1911 Government Model or the (2) Glock model 19 (17 as well). I think every serious gun fighter can get by with 1, 2 or a combination of both of these pistol platforms. If you own a good 1911 and a G19 there is no need for another pistol IMO. You can spend the rest of your $ on training ammo and/or rifles/accessories.

I have a 220R that I used to love, but then I caught the Glock disease (second-gen G19) and now I can't stand the DA/SA trigger on the SIG. I have considered getting it converted to DAK, but most likely this will never get done. For now, it rests quietly in its case and the Glock 19 is my go-to handgun. I will add, though, that the SIG 220R has been the only 100% reliable firearm that I have ever owned (out of several dozen) and it has fired close to 8,000 rounds without a hiccup.

During my first job after retiring, we carried 226 9MM West German stamped slide SIGs. They were well worn with ample holster wear and were beautiful handguns. My initial qualification scores were not very good - passing but lots of room for improvement. So I purchased a 226 9MM (non-rail). I've got more than 9K through her now and I got a 2nd 9MM, a NSW 05XX Navy. Then we switched duty weapons to .40 S&W. Got a CPO 226R .40 first, then a NIB 226R .40. All four SIGs are on my CCW. That's all I carry.

When we switched from 9 to .40, during the first .40 qual I shot my best score. The more powerful round did not affect my marksmanship. That was going from Federal C9BP 115 gr. to Speer Gold Dot and Winchester Ranger 165 gr. We also switched from a simple Eagle holster to a Safariland tactical, which had a steep initial learning curve - you had to push the hood cover down and forward, then slightly rock the pistol back then up to unlock. Around 80 percent of the qual course was from the holster.

The DA / SA / decock manipulation is ingrained into my brain after thousands of rounds during training. Almost all of the qual segments required two shots; DA then SA - decock, holster - so you got very good at letting off after the first DA shot until you felt the click of the sear reengaging before the short take-up leading to the SA.

All four SIGs have been totally reliable. I see no reason to learn another weapon's manipulation. I see no reason to upgrade to a newer SIG with whistles or bells. I may eventually acquire a P220 since the manipulation will be similar.

Magazines are never an issue; SIG factory zip weld 10, 15, and 20 rd. and Mec Gar 15 and 17.

Grips. Tried Hogue finger groove and panels. Too thick, always went back to the factory plastic. Tried the Barnhart Burner grips - too messy. Tried the Hogue recheckered and that is what I now use. They are awesome - especially the back strap checkering. Two SIGs have Hogue recheckered and two have the factory plastic.

I did get a SIG factory 226 9 threaded bbl for an AAC Evolution 9 and it works fine.

P226R .40 S&W

eta: Oh, and how often do you really use DA? First shot out of the magazine? Shoot that dry, reload, you are set up for SA. Tactical reload, SA. Speed reload, SA. Malfunction #3, look, lock, strip, rack rack rack, load, SA again. Click, tap, rack, access, SA. So DA is basically only after your initial draw. Anyone can acquire that skill.

I'm actually quite fond of P228's.

I seem to shoot them well and have CCW'd them here and abroad for a while, so the confidence factor is a plus. I do have to say the least favorite part for me is the overly long trigger reset, out of the box.

In the Compact 9mm category, this would be my carry choice, followed by the G19. "If it ain't broke, etc." and it works for me.

I like the "classic" sigs, before the Kimberization and BlingVerTail Craze. And an X5 Tactical is coming in the not too distant future.

The 1st is an oldie, not a looker by any means but works like a charm. It resides OCONUS and I need to treat it to a new set of springs, screws and grips among other things, but being the StepSigster it will never get the treatment the others would.

The other two, a NIB with Night Sights from the factory, that will be going to Grayguns to apply their magic touch soon, followed by a Jarvis threaded bbl and some Nills. The other is a CCW with CT laser grips. The CT grips are useful but make the grip significantly thicker.

I don't feel at all hampered by a DA/SA pistol, I do my own shortening of the resets on DA/SA SIGs and my own triggerwork. In real world time even a stock reset and trigger pull isn't hurting your shooting as many people would think. With a little practice I can shoot a stock DA/SA Beretta or SIG within a few .010ths of a seconds of my a tuned and lightened Glock/CZ/2011/1911 and M&P. I shoot so many different pistols that it's not really effecting much of anything. When I switch what I carry I do about 15min dryfire a day to get used to what I'm carrying.

The handguns I shoot the best that I own is my 2011 STI followed by my SIG 220EL and then my S&W M&P9.

Having shot far more rounds out of Glocks and 1911s, the high bore axis is also the issue for me. Unacceptable level of muzzle flip and it doesn't feel natural to me.

I have shot my 220 quite a bit. It defenitely takes more trigger time to master the da/sa--for me anyway. The slide catch lever is the dealbreaker for me. Under stress I often hold it down and prevent it from going to slide lock. i have also bumped it up a few times and inadvertantly locked the slide back. If the lever was just a bit farther forward it would be OK.

My 2nd issue is with the 8 round mags. The plastic flooplates break if you drop them a few times on concrete. Neither my dept issue 220 nor my personal issue feed 100% when loaded 8 +1 . The new 7 round mags with the steel floor plate are the way to go.

SIG makes excellent, standard setting firearms. SIG was one of the first companies to make a gun that you could truly trust right out of the box. Back in the early 80's, when they were still imported as Brownings, there was very little else to compare. You could buy an H&K P7, but you were limited to 9mm and a radically different manual of arms. You, as always, could buy a 1911, but that almost always meant a subsequent trip to the gunsmith. There were others, but SIG really blazed the way for modern autoloaders.

I am always torn between Sig and HK however I love metal guns so Sig usually wins. I used to have a 226 9mm which I loved however I sold it due to the trigger return spring detaching after about every 200rds. I wish I would have never sold it as I've now heard you can get a different spring from Sig. I now have a 2009 which I dont shoot well(polymer) and a 220 which I like just as much as my 1911s which I never thought was possible. My 2022 has a really long pull on double action, which makes for poor accuracy on that first round. After that, it's as accurate as my 226. I had an Air Marshall...and this person was the last one on the plane you would think was a shooter...tell me that they already have the hammer cocked before engaging a target. It was after our flight and I was just making small talk. She was trying to finish the conversation by only giving me yes and no answers. Extremely abrupt. Once we were on the same page, she was reasonably open about working for the Feds when she realized I was no threat, knew nothing about her, and was headed for a different flight. There were 4 hajis on the small flight she and I had been on together. I wondered if that had anything to do with her being in the plane.

I hear you, Grant. I took a P226 NSW-9 to Andy Stanford's "Surgical Speed Shooting" course and he cured me of that habit. Well, he showed me how to cure it and I did. Since that time I've replaced the internals - Short RESET Trigger. The reset is claimed to be 50% less and it feels that way when shooting it. I had planned on selling the thing since I've purchased a Smith & Wesson M&P9 (phenomenal carry, shooting class pistol in it's own right) but since I have the much shorter reset in a tack driver of a pistol I think she'll stay. I'm still a devotee of the 1911 for just about everything, though. Can't beat the ergos, short trigger pull and reset and all around "shootability/hitability". The best of breed.

I carried a 229 in .357 for a year and it went through about 5k without a burp! They are pretty guns too. The inside top of the slide had metal shaved off from the breech block though-not sure if that's normal. I never noticed that with HKs and Glocks.

Recently went back to carrying my West German P226 9mm, due to some "1911" issues. Smacks self for getting a Series II/external extractor gun :P

Anyway, the transition back to DA/SA wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. After spending some time dry firing it, I grabbed
a couple hundred rounds of Win white box and went to work. Also, wanted to play with the new 6P LED and do some low light shooting.
Had no problem putting damn near everything in the center of an IDPA target at 15, drawing from concealment after dark. Good times!

Has anyone tried the CT Lasergrips for the Sig? They look a little on the bulky side to me, which might not be an issue since I have big mitts. Feedback would be appreciated.

I might just sell the Kimber, and carry the 226 until I get an M&P.

I've tried the CT Lasergrips on my P226. I did not like them because my finger blocks the laser when I'm indexing.

What M&P are you looking at getting? I recently held a M&P 45 w/ the small grip and loved it. It's the only handgun that has made me think of retiring my P226. I'll hold off until I shoot one though.

S-1, most likely the .45.

Your finger blocks the laser when indexing? Can you elaborate a bit on that? Are you a southpaw?

How do the size of the grips compare to the factory Sig grips?

And while I'm thinking about, anyone have a good source for cheap P226 mags?

Nope, I'm right handed. My finger rests along the frame between the trigger guard and the slide while indexed. The laser is then on my finger instead of the person or target that I'm pointing my weapon at.

Here's a photo that might help with what I'm talking about....

Okay, gotcha thanks!

Interesting, in that pic, it must be an old version of the grips with rear activation or something. I can't clearly see the activation switch. The current ones wrap around the frontstrap I believe.

I have a Nitron .40 229 in its box in the safe , a Nitron 239 .40 which is my wifes it has CTC laser grips. I had a P220 which I sold to fund my first AR build thats how long ago that was and a 2340 which I more or less gave away so I could buy a SIR system - yeah slap me but it was when SIR's were the shit. I bought my first SIG a 226 9mm in 1986 ...
SIG fan is an understatement, however the reason my 229 is in the dark is that I carry (in my vehicle) a 1911.

Don't even start me on the KDW and Kimber CS. Put it this way. Gun doesn't work out of box, $1000+ Gun sent back to Kimber, I pay shipping, Gun returned to me two weeks later, Note inside says Gun works great now, Gun still doesn't work, Kimber wants me to pay for shipping again, I start reading KDW Horror stories on the net, Gun and me visit Gunsmith, I show Gun Smith the note from Kimber, Gun Smith looks at Gun, Gun Smith shows me several things, Polishing Ramp, Polishing Chamber, Extractor wrong...etc.
Then the Gun Smith says "there is no way a 1911 Gun Smith, or someone even pretending to be a 1911 Gun Smith looked at this Gun.
He said it would be equivalent to "If a Student handed me his AR because he was having problems" "Then me not noticing the Bolt Carrier Group missing"

OK, I purchased this SIG 220 when I was getting ready to retire. I never even touched a SIG before. Why did I buy it. One,Group buy=Great price. Second, the guy who decided on the SIG. His word is good enough for me. There were five Manufactures to pick from. Third, The Group buy included our unit Crest engraved on the Gun. Fourth, it's a point and shoot Gun, no safeties.
I don't like the plastic Guns either. Just personal pref. I have always been heavy handed, treat things ruff. Add my bigger then average hands and this Gun was perfect for me. I could care less about things like DA/SA, decock....etc. Thats what training is for. I will have these features in a Gun long before a Manuel Safety.
Only thing I can recommend. I would not get one of these if your hands are small. IMO, being able to decock with your firing hand alone is a must. Having an additional manipulation step when operating a Pistol is no big deal, that training thing takes care of this. But having to use both hands is a no go. Find a different Gun.

Five Pistols later and it's still my primary Hand Gun, not because of the Crest Engraving either;)

I cant remember what type of engraving it is. But it's smooth like a sticker. No wear after three years.

The P250 will be DAO. I've been tracking all the write ups and sneak previews. Seems like the stroke is moderate and light at 5-6lbs and the reset is very short.

I've had mine reserved for awhile and will be one of the first in Utah to score one. If it works out the way I hope it will replace my G19 as CCW

Picked up my 226 stamped slide 9MM from the FFL today and it's gorgeous! Took it apart and cleaned / lubed her. All serial numbers match and the bbl has very little wear. Slide only has some light wear marks, otherwise it looks brand spanking new. Date code is KF = 1995. I've got to check out some of those proof marking threads.

One thing I noticed is the grips are fitted very well and match / mate up with the right and left hand sides like a glove at the rear - unlike the newer SIGs (I [now] have [3] 9MM and [2] .40 S&W) and the factory plastic grips that don't mate together well at all.

I took some pics and will post some later.

A very satisfying gunsamerica purchase - paid $545.00 shipped to Nevada.

Range report.

Picked it up at the FFL and was at the range later that day shooting 250 rounds of American Eagle 124 and 147 gr, and some ammoman 124 gr Winchester NATO. I think the original owner only put a couple hundred rounds through her. Anyway, a very smooth gunsamerica transaction - +1 to Joe at Bullseye Sporting Goods in Long Beach CA, if you see one of his listings.

I was thinking a SIG service plan (SSP) and an action enhancement plan (AEP), but after the field strip I think all springs are gtg. Maybe only the AEP and a set of meprolights. I definitely will add her to my CCW though.

First pic shows some two shot drill head shots from the low ready at 10 yd, 2nd - 15 rounds at 7 yd slow fire (DA + SA), 3rd - 15 rd at 10 yd (slow fire), and 4th, field strip.

I've owned 7 Sigs and never had a bad one. The only 9 was a 239 which functioned well but did not feel right in my hand. Three were in .38 super. Sig was the first company to offer this caliber with a barrel chambered so that the round headspaced on the case mouth. Thus, for the first time, you could buy a .38 Super factory weapon that was accurate. Then, the other choices were Star, Ilama, or Colt---all of which had a weird, very narrow semi-rim for head-spacing. The result was poor accuracy.

My early Sigs had the European-type mag latch on the butt. I came to prefer this arrangement, because once the mag was in place, it stayed there.

I saw the Sig-made Browning .45 when it came out in 1976 and considered it a pos because of ignorance and prejudice. Then, the weapon was not well received. Different outfits brought them in in the early years, including Iver Johnson, a maker of low cost and utilitarian guns and now long defunct.

Texas DPS has issued Sigs for 20 years and has been very happy with the .357 Sig chambering.

Yes, they do have a long reset.

Have you ever played with a 220 or one of the older single stack 9mm before?

Mostly not, usually the double-stack models the local stores keep in-stock. The grip profile on these (angle, cross section, etc.) actually felt really good, other than just being too big in circumference for me to get my fingers adequately around.

I do recall a compact single-stack Sig of some kind (don't know all the model numbers), but it didn't have nearly as good a feel. Kind-of blocky.

Among compact single-stack 9mm's or .40's, I have a lot better fit with the original steel-frame Kahr than anything else. Makes for a kind-of heavy carry for the low capacity though.

I have a P229R DAK 9mm and like it a lot but am thinking about getting a .45ACP caliber gun. Has anyone here shot the P220R Carry SAO w/ Beavertail? The beavertail frame on it was a special run and my gun shop has one. It feels great in the hand and you notice a big difference when holding a regular P220R and one with a beavertail (same size grip I think). Trigger and safety felt great too but you really dont know how a gun works until you shoot it. I shot a Kimber Tactical Pro II last week and muzzle flip was like a G19 (for me anyway).

Does it have an internal or external extractor? SIG recently changed production for all P220-series .45's to an external extractor because of the problems they've been having for years with the stainless slide version of the internal extractor. Some people have sent guns back multiple times without a decent solution. The new external extractor seems promising but it hasn't been fielded long enough to develop a real track record yet.

Personally, I've found that the "beavertail" on SIG Elites and similar models forces my hand lower on the gun than my normal grip. It also prevents me from contacting the hammer with my thumb as I holster, which I like to do from a safety standpoint. This may not be as critical with a Condition 1 gun.

There have been periods of time when the external safety mechanisms on the P220 SAO models were problematic. SIG can fix that pretty easily if you end up with a bad one.

The trigger pull on most of the SAO SIGs I've played with were nice. Not tuned 1911 nice but very good for a production gun with a lever trigger.

While you can always get one at the wrong end of the bell curve, the P220 guns are usually incredibly accurate.

I didnt pay attention to see if it had an internal or external extractor (saw the same issues youre saying after researching this morning). I also didnt look at how high or low my hand was but will do that next time. I just picked it up and thought, "wow, it feels really good".

I also think the beavertail is actually worse. If I was going to buy a Sig today, and I'm not... I would buy one as close to the classic models as possible. Hopefully they would be less likely to screw up the fit and finish etc. I do like the SRT trigger but it's an odd fit with a first pull DA trigger. I had high hopes for the SAO trigger but did not find it to be very good. Either that or I couldn't adjust to it.

ToddG
06-29-08, 09:17
I was absolutely thrilled by the short reset mechanism (aka SRT). It took a reasonably shootable gun and turned it into something much more. Shorter reset also means less trigger travel during the pull which helps with accuracy whether you're shooting slowly or fast.

The original SRT design had such a short reset that you could actually drop the hammer simply from the bounce against the pad of your finger in recoil. For a short while we thought the hammer was following (the sear is one of the two components in the SRT) but it was just that short.

My '03 P220ST went more than 15k rounds before it started having extractor issues. But once they began, it was a serious hassle.

Prior to MSP switching from revolvers to autos (early 90's) I was fortunate to be on the test team (which means we just shot alot of free ammo). Of the three guns tested the ranking was overwhelmingly the Sig P-226, then the Beretta 92F, and finally the Glock. With a Beretta factory in our state, Beretta got the contract. I carried my own P-226 on tactical call outs and the Beretta in uniform. Still have both and still think they are two of the top autoloaders made. With that said, the Glock is still a good choice for LE, requiring less thought in stressful situations.

Here's an old P220. One of the first imported in to the US. On the slide it has Interarms stamped on it. Date code indicates 1984. The gun is still going strong. I have no idea how many rounds my dad put through it before he gave it to me. The only problem I has was the springs broke, but after several thousands rounds, I aint complaining.

I used to be a HUGE fan of the P226, until I got into 1911s and Glocks; now, holding a P226 with the same 'thumbs forward' grip I use on 1911s and Glocks, I was constantly hitting the slide release.

Still, I regret selling off my P228 and German P226; can't say I'm a huge fan of how the new stainless slides balance...

I am far from a firearms expert or historian, but I would submit that S&W likely did more to advance the centerfire autoloader here in the US than any other manufacturer - that is, until the Glock came along - blazing the trail long before SiG knew there was a trail.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/varoadking/006.jpg

If we're to include rimfire handguns, I would think Ruger may actually be in the running for the honors...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/varoadking/guns012.jpg

Personally, I enjoy DAO S&W 3rd Generation pieces moreso than any other, and I'm glad that they are still relatively available.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/varoadking/guns010.jpg

More to the point...I admit that I have always had an affinity for SiG's and maintain a half-dozen of those pieces as well...

Here's a pic of my old beater P220. The thing just keeps running. I put around 5,000rds through it, and I bought it used so there's no telling how many went through it before me. Only issue I had that wasn't my fault was a broken trigger bar return spring. Other than that, it's been incredibly reliable. I only had reliability issues with stupid aftermarket recoil dampening guiderods from Sprinco and Buffertech. I've learned my lesson on those. ;) Switching back to stock cleared those issues right up. You know what they say about "fixing" stuff that isn't broken:

I've just recently sampled the Sig Kool-aid...I picked up a P226R 9mm for my dad, wanted to get him a high cap service pistol before, well, January '09. I was very impressed with it and ended up picking up a P229R DAK .40 from Mark at Summit. I love them both and wouldn't mind picking up another, just have no idea if I'd prefer a 220, 226, 239, or matching 229...I'm impressed with the DAK trigger so far; my daily carry is a HK P2000 9mm LEM, and while I'm used to that, at least on my guns the DAK first pull is smoother than the LEM.

I know many don't like the railed frames but this one is going to be my nightstand gun now and I'm a fan of weapon mounted lights.

Also, re: the 226, I got a few of the Mecgar 18 round mags that just came out recently and have had good success with them thus far.

My first purchase years ago was the Sig P-225.
Then I had to get a 220.That was not enough so I got a 226.But then what is Sig collection without the P226 X-Five , so I got one of those.
Then the GSR's came out and bombed so I waited a year and ordered a STX from the SIG SAUER Custom Shop , runs like a champ.
I guess you could call me a sig fan but then what about my Colt's, S&W's , CZ, H&K and my useless Kimbers. lmao

Have had exactly two SIG pistols. An original BDA-45 which was the Euro mag catch type P220, with Browning's name (and SIGs) on it. When the P220 "American" came out, I traded one for the other. Still got the P220, which came with the pointed spur hammer. Since then I've upgraded the hammer to the newer rounded spur, added the rebound spring and block, and the newer mainspring hardware, and gone to the very nice slimmer grips and 8 round magazines. Great pistol, nice SA release, accurate, and I cant see ever parting with it on a willing to do so basis.
