First of all, I don't reload anymore...want to get back into it, but will wait for the panic to die...

That said, I was at the gunshow in Kansas this weekend. There was of course all your overpriced stuff (LWRC M6A2? for $3800), but for the most part, I noticed most of everyone's items for sale may have been overpriced a bit, but considering the climate, not too bad (Colt 6920 for $1800, not $2500 for example).

That has absolutely nothing to do with brass, so I'm back on track now. Again, I don't reload, so I don't know if this is good or not...$187/1K once fired, cleaned, unprimed. I think it's a good deal based off of what I've seen the prices for at my local Cabelas (of which they are out of stock).

If anyone is interested, PM me and I'll give you the guys contact information...don't want to post publicly in case I'm breaking some kind of "rule".

That is absolutely the most absurd price I've ever seen for brass much less once fired.

I've never paid more than $50 for 1k once fired 5.56 brass which is superior to .223 velocity wise.

I don't think you're gonna find anyone stupid enough on this forum that'll go for $187 once fired .223 brass dude.

Good to know. Not .223 related, but there was 40s&w, once fired, primed for $12/100...good or not? If so, I'm going to get some of that...

For perspective, almost exactly a year ago I bought 500 once fired .223 for $30 including shipping. It was cleaned but I had to resize/deprime myself. For everyone who has a time machine back to the past I highly recommend it.

You can find processed .40 brass for $40/k without primers. The price you show includes a $80 surcharge for 1k primers, so unless you can't find primers for less than that, I'd say it's a terrible price.

Just look aroun you can still find brass for cheap.
Those are insane prices.

Like my local gunshow that want $60+ pmag and $70+ for Glock mags.

The guy saying he pays 50 per k is a great price, and not the norm. The 187 is very expensive, but in this climate it might be all you find. If you break it down by the loads you will get out of it. It makes it seem a little better but not much. Your the only one that can decide if it is worth it to you.

556 brass is not going to give you more velocity. People say that 556 brass has thicker walls giving it less volume is not true. There webs are slightly thicker. If you look at water volumes of cases they are all very close, and very by manufacturer. They do moth vary due to being 223 or 556.

This shows h20 capacity. This is one of many lists that exist. All of them show case capacity is roughly equal. A tenth of a grain is not much. Your talking a few granules of powder.

You will always be able to get brass. Its not getting banned wait it out or look for better price you will find it cheaper.

Got most of my brass free- thanks to nonreloaders! Thanks again keep piling it high! Then I only bought brass factory ammo. I'll never have to worry about brass for as long as I live! :D

I thought you were still getting that price. I was not calling you out on the price just commenting on how good the price was.

Has anyone started a Trading forum for just brass trades?

For comparison, the last factory new LC brass I bought was $130/k delivered. This was sometime in 2011.

Try pricing processed LC 7.62x51 brass if you want a real chuckle. But if you need it, what's it worth to you ?

My sentiments exactly. What I left out was the part where I say the guy selling the brass could shove it where the sun don't shine!

At that price it's almost worth it to take a two day class just to hang out afterwards and collect 5,000 or so cases.

Oh shit, I think I just gave all the new reloaders an idea...

I wish I had the option of picking up brass like they were weeds. Unfortunately I literally have to compete with old men shuffling back and forth all day picking it up in old grocery bags to take to the scrapper.

We were on high power range one day and these nasty old tweeker dykes were sweeping up everything including rimfire brass.

They tried jacking some of our brass that ejected into the target shed while we were down range.

If anyone knows where I can get some .45 cheap, I need it. Prefer large primer.

I have a box of .40 range pickup. Mostly once fired. That I will trade. Roughly 1800 or so cases in a $13 mailer box.

On the other hand... I laughed when BCM BCG's price increased to $159 each.

Who knows how retarded any of this can get?

ahh the good ol days...

somewhere around 9-10 years ago i think i paid $350 for 10,000 pc of once fired RP headstamp 223 off a prison's firing range in CA. that was an ebay auction. the ones i have left are are 4x fired. i was mildly irritated when carbine class instructors wouldn't let you police your own brass years ago. i'm a little salty about it now.

but hey, my superior brass catcher design has made it a moot point

Don't compete with the old guy...buy him off!
Got a bud that does this, asked the old man what the scrap yard was paying and if he would rather sell to him. Old guy said "Oh I don't know if you'd want em, I'd have to get at least $10"
"For how many?"
"5 gallon"
"Sold":dirol:

Bud shoots 9mm and 40, I take 38, 45 and 223 whenever the old man gets a bucket put together.

Damn. A 5 gal bucket is about $150 scrap value :p
