I've been wanting to build something for quite some time, so finally a few months ago I decided the time was now. I did a lot of research, and took my time, and had patience to put together exactly what I wanted. I started building the dedicated 22 first, but when sandy hook happened I decided to go ahead and build the Afghan as well.

Two very nice rifles, I'm jealous. I dont think I've ever seen a nicer dedicated 22lr build.

Very nice, but damn that is a lot of coin to drop on a dedicated .22lr!

It was. But it's a lifelong investment. Plus if I wanna convert this one back to 5.56 later it will be easy. Just swap out the barrel and bcg and I'll have another kick ass 5.56 AR

Ha Ha Same thing crossed my mind as I realized the parts used. Very nice.

How is the lock back feature working on the boonie packer?

Any problems with it coming loose or out while changing mags?

It's working good. Locks back as advertised. Fits in very snug and the 5 mags I have drop free.

Very nice looking rifles.

Where in the hell did you get 2 Gen2 lower receivers? Even before Sandy Hook, they were hard to find. I've been looking for one for MONTHS.

One of them was from Atomic Tactical, and the other I got from a guy on the ee section on tos under new lower receivers. The second one was bought after sandy hook, and I only paid 320 shipped for it with a daniel defense parts kit included. Was lucky

I'm really digging the two tone balance. Kind of a ying and yang scheme.

you and me are one of the few that like it hah. Quite a few people say it's "tacky". I think it looks bitchen myself

What is the weight on the .22 version?

That is a serious 22lr!

Is that a normal mag button on the 5.56? Is it threaded on the catch enough?

Good eye. Its a bullet button. Gotta use an Allen wrench during tac reloads lol

That makes sense. (Sorry, have no experience in that field.)

You'll love the SD-C. Have one. It's great.....Yeah long time stock trigger guy but after buying an SD-C on a whim I am spoiled and must consider an extra $220 on every new build henceforth.

The break is soooo crisp and the return is nice and short. I don't see how a trigger can get much better

did the trigger profile take some getting use to?

Not much getting used to. The flat blade feels natural no matter where you pull on it.

How many rounds do you have on your tactical links?
Any issues locking back on last round? I bought one, but haven't tried it yet.
The thing is a heavy tank of a lever - almost a full ounce. That much weight hanging off the bolt catch is why these things cause more issues for folks vs. the BADs.
Thinking of sending mine back and sticking with the BADs or nothing.

Both are very sharp looking rifles and i bet they are tack drivers. Congratulations!

Sent from my brain.
No man knows how bad he is, until he has tried very hard to be good.

Not enough rounds down range yet with the current ammo shortage but so far so good. And agreed. These things are heavy.

I did the same thing with my first AR(mixed the fde &black part's on miad and vltor i mod) amd everybody thought it looked bad. But i always thought it made it unique. Anyway vary nice build, especially the dedicated 22. I have similar plans for one or two(mostly for my kids)
