View Full Version : Springer Operator Sight issues?

My Springfield Operator (not TRP) came with fixed sights and always shot low so I recently put an adjustable rear sight on it, made by Kensight. Now it shoots high (almost 12" high at 25 yds) but I am out of adjustment so I guess I need a taller FR sight. Springfield told me that stock FR sight is .180, Kensight makes them in different heights from .220 to .250 but I have no idea what height will work for me, does anyone have any experience with this issue?

Also, I though about buying a new full set from somewhere else like Warren Tactical or Heine but I don't know what will fit the Novak LoMount cut, any recommendations?

Send it back to Springfield.

Their CS is very good.

They should be able to fix up the stock sights or replace them with something like Novak's.

the problem is the turn around time, I can't be without my 1911 that long.

Just curious as to why? They'll likely only have it for a week or two.

my gunsmith gave me an excel spreadsheet that calculates the amount of sight adjustment needed. pm me an email address, and i'll send you the sheet

you will need Sight Radius, Amount of Error, and Range, in inches

My experience with SA Cust Service was a very quick turn around.

That was several years ago however I believe their reputation is still excellent

SA's reputation is every bit as good today. Superb work and a fast turn around.

Just got my TRP back from Springfield today and it shoots perfect POA. It also had sight issues, at ten yards it was high and left; at 25 it was off paper. The turn around was about 2.5 weeks

that turn around time is a lot better than what i was originally quoted, i will contact them again, it will likely be best just to send it in.

If you can deal with Novak sights(I like them), they turned my slide in 10 days door to door.
I filled out their form online, enclosed a target and they hooked me up exactly as I wanted.

I'd start over and go 10-8 rear with standard XS front.

I actually would prefer an over under dot with tritium with an adjustable rear sight, if anyone knows of a set that would fit that cut I would really appreciate it, I think starting over is going to be the way to go.

I like this but its not adjustable
