Just thought I'd share with y'all that the Cheaper Than Dirt storefront in Mckinney Texas has Glock 33round mags in stock... For $189.99... Seriously.

I'd love to buy one at that price from the storefront, so I can then shove it up the owner's ass... sideways.

I dropped by their store near Ft. Worth yesterday and Glock 19 mags were $65 a piece. The cheapest box of 50 9mm target loads was $23.99.

The crazy thing is that people were grabbing everything they could and paying those prices.

I almost lost it when she quoted me that price. They had all Glock/high capacity mags moved to behind a counter... like they were gold or something. I told them they were making money off the backs of dead children. I understand capitalism and free-market, but $189 for a glock magazine is outrageous. Soooo instead of pushing the kill everyone I see button, I laughed out loud and immediately left the store.

Windham Weaponry ARs were priced at $2k plus.

A bit of an aside, but Glenn Beck is a big time "customer" of, and advertiser for cheaper than dirt. He runs ads on his radio show proclaiming it's "where he goes to get all his bullets."

They call it Cheaper Than Dirt because that's about the worth of their integrity.

$190 for a 33rd mag? I hope those douches go under. I am proud to say I have never done business with them.

I own my own business and so I don't bad mouth other's without just cause. First the way they handled themselves after Sandy Hook was appalling... claiming they took down the guns just because they were sold out due to demand but somehow now they have out of stock for several guns? Then they jacked up their prices. The last straw for me was my father bought me a gift certificate for my birthday from them. Not only did it never arrive, my dad called them 5x trying to get ahold of someone and they never returned his calls after saying they would. Dad had to place a dispute with his credit card company.

in short, **** them.

I don't know if it's worse that they are asking such a ridiculous price or that some idiot out there is actually paying that much.

I find them awkward and unwieldy in the first place.

I've done a small amount of business with Midway and they do seem GTG. Cheaper That Dirt has never gotten a dollar from me,and never will for sure after this fiasco.
There are some good vendors out there who are only raising their prices enough to cover the increased cost of components. That is acceptable and understandable. Those who are sticking us should be remembered if/when things smooth out again.
I do think we will be paying more for ammo and components in the future, but I believe the prices will level out again eventuallly and the gouging will stop.

And they pay him handsomely to do so. His radio show is a business for him to make money; just like any other business. I'm neither defending Beck or CTD, but before the phony outrage, see things for how they are.

CTD also advertises in the American Rifleman; which means that they wrote a check to the NRA's publisher to pay for it. It doesn't mean that the NRA is forcing you to buy something from CTD or agrees with their pricing.

They did it in 1994! Nobody remembers?

I have a select group of suppliers I buy from. CTD doesn't even come close to being on this list.

They used to me my go to place for AK ammo. Their prices are absolutely insane. It slays me that there are people that pay those prices. CTD now stands for "Cheaper Than Diamonds".

I got a catalog from them last week. There are no prices for the ammo, since they have raised them so high after the panic buying started. They are a bad company.

I had hoped that most wouldn't give in to the temptation to gouge everyone while all this madness is going on.

Guess I was giving "people" too much credit. $189!!?? Wow.

Why ANYBODY shops there or at Gander Mtn or bAss Pro Shops is beyond me.

Crazy prices and not so helpful counter people....I never go in those places.

Hopefully people remember this and boycott them. But alas after the hysteria dies down I'm sure people will still buy from them if only to save a buck or two.

Midway USA is my preferred dealer. I've bought a lot from them over the last few years and the service is excellent. Brownells, current issues aside*, has also done me right.

CTD are nothing then bottom sucking leaches. My money goes to Midway, Grafs, and Brownells.

Like I've said before, I don't hold most price raising against dealers. It's simply just part of the game. This whole scare has definitely made me realize who I won't ever do business with again however, and guess who's at the top of that list?

I hope those douchebags go out of business and lose their whole stock in a fire. That isn't covered by insurance. Boom.

As of today, 2/5/13, the G17 mags are listed at $79.97, and shows they are in stock at multiple warehouses. The cheapest G17 mags I found on their website is those made by KCI, which are going for $39.97, not sure on quality of KCI. With the 33rd mags at $189.97, CTD can go screw themselves.

It's not only the Glock mags, it's the PMAGs also. $99.97 for a 30 round PMAG.

I wonder if sending them a little note, on M4C letterhead, threatening boycotte unless they bring their prices back down to earth, would shake things up over there? If the voice of 65000 firearm enthusiasts doesn't get their attention, nothing will.

Although, we'd probably still be outnumbered by the amount of D' bags out there that would still buy from them...

Hot Sauce
02-05-13, 17:50
Well there is another site that is referred to by convention of M4C as The Other Site in a way that downgrades its recognition and value. Perhaps a similar movement can be instituted in regards to CTD.

FWIW the KCI mags are quite nice.

I know someone who got a little panicked and bought a bunch of G26 12rd mags for $40. He doesn't have enough posts to use the EE though, so he can't sell them for his cost + shipping. PM me...

Just bought 4 G19 mags for $34 a piece at Natchezz which I thought was sort of reasonable considering, sure wish I knew about Midway as they didn't have them last time I looked. Anyone know of any FGMM 168, 308?

I'm still able to buy used G22 (15 round) mags at my local gun shop $19.99. These are mags made during the '94 AWB and they're in like new condition.

I love my local gun shop!

But I'm afraid they won't because people will panic and pay stupid prices.

I was at Scheels this afternoon and they had the Glock 33 rounders for $40. Even the Armslist idiots aren't that greedy.
