I have to start this off by saying that Chris Frank is a stand-up guy. He could have cancelled the class, as there were only 4 students (myself and a group of 3 from out of town), but he held it anyway knowing a group was travelling and staying in a hotel.
Everyone was running a Glock. I ran a Gen 3 19 and there was a Gen 4 19, Gen 3 17, and I believe one guy started out with a Gen 3 23 and switched to a Gen 3 19 early on.
We went over proper stance, grip, trigger control, sight picture, drawing from holster, reloads, and target transitions (I may be forgetting something). The class was structured so we covered each aspect individually and then towards the end of class we put everything together and did some shot timer work and some head to head competition on steel.
Chris took time with each student to go over our weak areas and what drills we can do to get better. He was great at being able to see what we were doing wrong and articulating why it was wrong and how it affected our shooting.
I noticed I would rush shots when under time and consequently throw rounds low and left and this class was definitely an eye-opener. I still have a lot of work to do!
At the start of the day we shot 5 rounds at a 3"x5" card as a baseline and at the end of the day we shot the same string again. Every shooter improved substantially even though by the end of the day we were all physically and mentally exhausted because it was so damn cold the entire day.
Chris is a great, no bullshit instructor. I would recommend this class to anyone either starting out or wanting to work on fundamentals and will definitely take this class again (sooner rather than later) and look forward to taking his VSM Carbine class.
Chris thanks for a great day of shooting and sticking it out in the cold with us!
