I currently carry a Sig P229 .40 daily. It has a #6 front sight and a #8 rear sight.

My truck pistol is a 226 in .357 Sig. I like the round and think I will get a .357 barrel for the 229. I don't know at this point if I will practice more with the .40 and carry the .357 due to costs of ammo, or if I'm just doing it for options.

I am going to order some night sights from Top Gun to upgrade and therein lies my problem. The info from Top Gun states that on Sig pistols, the recommended sights for .40 is #6 for front sight and #8 for rear sight like I have now, but for .357 Sig the front and rear are both #8's.

Because at this point I don't know which caliber I will carry more, which set should I use? Because I can change caliber with just a barrel change, it's like having two pistols for the price of a barrel.

Maybe go with the set that shoots higher...

It's a lot easier to hold under than over.

Instead of spending a couple hundred on a barrel just buy the Sig factory x-change kit in the caliber you want. Comes with the slide, barrel , mag and spring and rod. Just slide one off and the other one on. Just a thought I have three x-change kits for my p226 mk25

With so many altercations to the same model, how does one know what x-change kit will fit what generation of Sig? Mine is a CPO 229 non-railed. Now they have railed, E2's, and who knows what else!:)

I try to keep up with what's going on at other forums with Sig, but the consensus seems to be that even if you call Sig, you might get a different answer depending on who you speak to.

I know it's trendy to hate Sig nowadays, and after reading my previous post it may seem that I'm coming off that way and that's not the case. I love the ones I have and they've been flawless. However, some of the changes Sig has made are frustrating. I know if I decide to switch any of my BCM uppers with any of my lowers, they are going to fit and function. I just wish it was the same with Sigs within the same models.

Never had an issue yet! Lol I run an older sig 226 and 228 W German models also. The kits still seem to fit fine. Osage county guns is who I get most of my conv kits thru they are a pleasure to deal with and stand behind your purchase. Was planning on ordering a kit for the 229 soon from them. Look them up and shoot them an email.

I'll look them up. Thank you

I looked on Osage's website and it says that a German frame like mine can only take a kit from the same caliber that's only on it or a .22. Otherwise, a barrel switch is the only option. Looks like its back to deciding on a sight.
