Larry Corriea has the best written response for gun control that I have read. If you look up Larry Correia-An Opinion on Gun Control you can find it.

Also he has a very good section on why high caps for defense. The basis for it is that as the denfeder you cannot choose you engagement situations or when to reload. In contras as an aggressor the criminal gets to engage whenever he chooses and is not hampered by low cap mags at all(as was proven at Columbine)

Edited to add: Just read it. It is a long read, but good, but not much different than many of us have been saying here and other places. But typically, comments on forums only focus on one pice of the whole situation such as mags in one thread and semi-auto in another, and so forth. His piece pretty much put it all together in a well written way.
