Saw this on Netflix, and think its available on other streaming services.

Any comments? Seems like organic farmers have the USDA and others attacking them like gun owners do the ATF.

Amazing to me an organic, chemical free farm, actually has more paperwork to do than a commercial farm which is bathing their crops in chemicals and doesn't have to disclose anything they use to the consumer.

I'd further recommend you to see this doc....

Seen em both....and they compliment each other in terms of seeing a bigger picture emerge.

I am not pushing organic, and 90% of what I buy my family is out of the regular produce section not the organic section at our HEB. About the only thing I buy organic is chicken, and I don't even know if it is or not but HEB sells Prime grade New Yorks. Best steaks Ive ever had.

yup they are attacking them and seems like Monsanto is behind a lot of it IMHO controlling things with insiders and or lawyers etc.. and using the gov agencies as their hit men

Monsanto is going before the SCOTUS in a case, actually. Don't agree with their patenting a living organism or trying to punishing people from cross pollination. No soy beans are not entirely self pollinating.

FWIW there are people trying to patent human genes.

There should be a total ban on the patent of living organism or genes.

Food, Inc. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1286537/) is another good watch.

On the flip side of the coin . . .

There have been scientists who have attempted to patent such things in order to prevent them from coming to fruition.

"In 1997, Stuart Newman, a developmental biologist sponsored by biotechnology activist Jeremy Rifkin, sought to preclude the creation of a humanzee—a part-human, part-chimpanzee chimera. Together, Newman and Rifkin tried to patent the relevant technology so that they would be able to restrict its use and to promote a vigorous social dialogue about the desirability of such part-human beings."

Patents run out.

Would rather them just illegalize it, and that coming from me the libertarian. Amendment it if need be.

Yeah Im not on a pro or anti organic position. However the government / FDA / etc.. make life hell for small farmers and over control the market bringing more problems and higher prices. Talk about waste.

I'm sure if they don't advertise as being organic, then they would have no paperwork.
