Hey guys I need some help. I'm working on a build right now that's currently a pistol but will eventually be SBR'd. My goal is to make an AR that resembles an MP5 as closely as possible, just because I've always wanted one, and its a little easier to come by. The look I'm going for the the SD model, that has the built in suppressor, and I think it's going to turn out really well, but I'm kind of stuck.

What I've got is the troy alpha rail, and I'm wanting to add KAC panels to the back end of it so that the front of the rail looks like the suppressor coming out if the handguards. Problem is, I want them mounted flush to the alpha rail. I could just add rail sections and slide the panels onto them, but that's going to make them a lot wider than I want.

SO, question is, how can I mount these things? Here's a picture of the pistol with the panels just sitting on the rail

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure it's doable, just a matter of figuring it out.

I understand that his probably isn't what you want, but what exactly is wrong with the covers being slightly raised off of the alpha rail as is?

Honestly I think it looks stellar so far, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I do understand completely the desire for completeness.

I may have figured it out. The last rail is going to be a pain, but it looks and feels solid.

It came to me right after I posted this thread up. What I did was take one of those magpul rail backing plates and dremeled end out the threads, basically making it an oblong shaped washer.

Then put the screw through it and put it inside the rail coming out. Used another magpul backer plate length wise which luckily fit the inside of the kac panel perfectly. Tightened it down from the inside and it's good to go.
