there's some LEO trade ins at a local shop..
i'd like the preban lower.
not so much the dated uppers though.
i imagine some vintage M16 enthusiast would like them though.

"Used" to what extent? Are all parts original?

I'm by no means a Colt enthusiast, but for sure more info is needed. How old are they? What configuration (i.e. slab side upper, forward assist but no deflector), barrel twist, what flash hider, etc. are all just a few questinos I can think of. You mention a preban lower, so I'm assuming these are AR15 semi trade ins and not actual M16s. So now we need to know if they are SP1 large hole uppers or if they are small hole M16 uppers.

That's just off the top of my head

Large hole uppers would be worth no more than a few hundred if in good shape.

True M16A1 Colt uppers are worth 300 to maybe up to 500 if it were unfired. I think I got my brand new COLT A1 upper from Cdnninvestments.com for $399 back when they had them.

If they have the COLT m16 bolt group with them, I'd add 100-200 dollars to the value. The higher value if the bolt group was also brand new.

These uppers hold little value because of the length and twist rate. Most tactical fr00t balls want short barrels with 1/7 twists. This makes these uppers bargains for those of us who shoot 55 gr bullets.
