that us an otherwise factory case with that bullet?

Aside from .225/5.56,
I was telling my buddy about my .225 Winchester, which is basically a 30-30 necked down to it.

The 22-250 is the 250 Savage necked down.

I could not remember what the names were for the .308 and 30-06 necked down to it.

The 25-06 is the 30-06 necked down to .257, but I swore there was another wildcat that did it to .224.

Thanks for any info.

222, 222 Magnum, 220 Swift are a few others.

.22 Hornet, .218 Bee, .219 Zipper, .224 Weatherby, .22 Jet are others using .224 bullets.
The .22 Savage Hi-Power is an oddball - .228.

There are also literally dozens of wildcat .22s.
The .225 Win is essentially a factory semi-rimmed variant of arguably the best of them, the .219 Donaldson Wasp, based on the Zipper.

The .224 Texas Trophy Hunter is a 6mm Remington necked to .224. I thought about building one for the 80-90gr match bullets exclusively.

If you were to find every single wildcat ever done, you could probably fill pages and pages here. If you've never seen it, Ackley's book has tons that I'd never heard of. And for every caliber.

.243 is a necked down .308 to 6mm
and .270 is necked down 30-06 in addition to the mentioned .25-06

Ha, I read too fast on the way out the door, Just realized you were using the .25-06 as an example, but only looking for the .22 sizes from those parent cartridges.

I drug my crippled ass down the steps and retrieved the book.

22hornet
22 k hornet (sharper shoulder)
22 icl gopher (an improved hornet)
218 bee (from the 25/20)shortened a bit too, I think.
22 carbine (m1 30 carbine necked down to 22)
mashburn bee (218 bee improved)
22 super jet aka ackley aka sabre (357 magnum necked to 22)
218 icl improved bee
R-2 Lovell (25/20 necked down)
222 remington
222 remington improved
222 remington magnum
222 remington magnum improved
5.7 x43 aka eichorn lynx ( a 222 remington blown out)
224 icl benchrester (necked down and shortened 250 savage)
Donaldsen Wasp (beats me)
219 zipper (necked down 25/35)
22/4000 senior varminter (beats me but looks like the 22/250)
219 zipper improved
219 icl wolverine (same as zipper improved)
22/30/30 improved (30/30 necked down)
22 varmint-r (303 necked down)
22/303 sprinter (same as varmint-r)
22/250 (250 savage)
22/250 improved
22 rocket (similiar to sprinter and varmint-r)
220 swift (6mm lee necked down)
220 swift improved
224 durham jet (243 necked down)
224 icl marmot (beats me)

Then there are several 228's which were invented at the time to get around the big game hunting laws requiring larger than 224 caliber rifles.

The "improved" rounds above were done by ackley and is the case blown out so the taper is less and the shoulder is sharper.

Those are from his book written in 1962 and the only ones I can think of off hand that are missing is the fireball, 22ppc and the 223wssm. And obviously, the 223 remington.

Don't forget the .224 BOZ (10mm and later 9mm necked down)
