View Full Version : Clothes made in USA?

Does anyone know of some good clothes manufactures that are made in the USA? I am not talking a line that is USA made and the rest of their garbage from a sweatshop in Indonesia but all made in the US. None of that gay skinny jean hipster crap either. :jester:

I know of three; Threads of Revolution (their site is offline temporary), Rogue American Apparel and Ranger UP.

RAA has real nice t-shirts, I just bought a couple. Ranger UP has nice stuff but most of them are kind of over kill on design. The one I like is the vintage CIB but it is out of stock. The old school Rangers diamond shirt is nice but I am no Ranger.

How about casual shoe companies as well?

Ones similar to those you mentioned are all I know of. Pipe Hitters Union is another one I think, but IIRC, they're pretty heavy on the graphics too and a lot of their designs seem like the ones that privates go out and buy 20 of right out of basic. I really like Forged Clothing (http://www.forgedclothing.com/). They don't have a whole lot, but I have a few of theirs and they're solid. I would say most of theirs aren't too over the top either. I talked to them recently over FB, really nice.

I am pretty sure Ben Davis is still made in the USA - http://www.bendavis.com/

And check out this list:

That list was not helpful at all. $200 for a pair of jeans? Really? These people are really raping the made in USA label. Not a single casual shoe company on the list, all leather boots/shoes at $300 plus. Looks like I am going to have to keep sending money for chinese crap unless I get rich.

Forged had some nice shirts. I know Ranger UP is releasing jeans soon so that will be nice. TOR need to put their store back online.

I just purchased a 2-Zip Fleece through this company:

http://www.kitanica.net/

They're Made in USA and their products are top notch. I've been really happy with the fleece I've gotten from them and I'll be buying some more stuff from them later this year.

Danners aren't all made in the USA. I assumed the same thing and then mine arrived with a "Made in China" label  They have a line of USA-made boots, but I think those are all $300 or more.

ETA: For the record, my Chinese Danners are holding up well so far.

For Danner you have to filter using the drop down Features->"Made in USA". Lots of their models are made elsewhere.

EDIT: Note to self. Must read all posts before posting since someone right above me just said the same thing.

Quality costs money. In my experience with the companies I listed and other "made in USA" companies, it isn't just the label that adds to the price, it is the enormous increase in quality.

True. I don't know which of their products aren't but I know that they have some. That said, all mine have the little "made in California" tag.

I do like carhart, but I find it odd that they state "stitched on American soil". Almost insinuating that the materials are outsourced.

No amount of quality justifies $300 for a pair of denim jeans. I can understand boots or something along those line but not pants. The most I would ever want to spend on a pair of pants is $100 and nothing more. I would use them as a damn pillow cover if I had to just to get my moneys worth.

Go to a local tailor (if you can still find one) and ask him to make you a pair of jeans. Make sure to use US made denim, thread, and fasteners. While the price may not be $300 you will most likely pay $100 or more.

Americans are not Chinese slave labor (yet). We expect to be paid a reasonable wage for our labor. If you cannot understand that then you are part of the problem.

One of the other problems I see all of the time in America is the Disposable Culture. We don't like to fix or maintain anything anymore. We want it cheap, we want if fast, and when our cheap shit breaks, we just throw it away and get more cheap shit from China. I would argue that most people would rather own 10 pairs of cheap pants than own 3 pairs of really good pants.

May I recommend then shopping with your fellow travelers:

You sir are stepping out of your lane. I still have clothes I had in 9th grade. I may use them for dirty work but I still have and use them. I by no means are one of which you are referring to. The only reason they can get away with charging $300 for a damn pair of jeans nowadays is the fact that almost everything is outsourced and rack up the prices and cost of labor for American made. If most things were still made here, say some jeans, they wouldn't cost $300. More like $60-100 for a quality pair, $20-40 for a decent pair.

You can take your disrespect somewhere else. I am going to make this real clear; try and de-rail the thread with your unwarranted assumptions again I will contact a mod. I didn't make this thread for non-sense and flaming.

I have no issue paying more for Made in USA. However, it pisses me off to no end when American companies figure they can charge over $100 for a ****ing imported plaid shirt (Filson) just because of their name.

I buy Dulth Trading firehose pants even though they are imported, simply because they outlast any pants I have owned 2 to 1 and they unquestionably waranty them. The two pairs I have managed to rip were replaced no questions asked.

Yep. I totally agree. But the problem is the de-industrialization of the US. It has been our national policy since Bush the 1st to outsource jobs (mostly to China).

Tariffs are one of the only Constitutionally mandated forms of taxation but you average Republican knows even less about that part of the Constitution than they do about the 2nd Amendment.

Micheal Savage and Pat Buchanan are the only nationally known guys talking about this but it is high time for a new Nationalism in the US.

For jeans, you could try googling Roundhouse,(they make bibs, jeans, very reasonably priced) and try "prison blues" these are actually made in Oregon state prison . Roundhouse is made in Oklahoma.
