M4C has proven itself a special place, everything from a thorough education on ARs and terminal ballistics to Politics and opposing views.

In my time as a member here the threads started requesting prayers for loved ones and others have touched my heart, warmed my soul and gotten me active in prayers for others.

One need only look as far as our very own Army Chief to see the goodness of God. https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=114003

Then there is Andy Gibson, a very very tough young man diagnosed with cancer and making huge strides, with an awesome family behind him.
https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=84149

There are many many more examples of this that I'm sure I'm over looking.

If I may ask I would like a sticky of these threads for posterity. Something for the world to easily find in a time of need.

Please add a link to any such threads here.

My wife was diagnosed with thyroid cancer today. I have always prayed for those affected by illness such as this I've never been on the other side, I am now and it shakes your very foundation.

I do not know how serious this is and I'm not much on details, but the doctors say everything will be fine. They will remove the thyroids and it will be gone.

To say she is my rock would be an understatement. She handles everything from groceries to Quickbooks. I have duplicates of all my carry guns because she wanted one too. A hunter, fisherwoman, good shooter, heckuva cook and my best friend.

Take heart Ryan, this is one of the easiest types of cancer to overcome. My father had it at 65, after the thyroid was removed and single radioactive pill was taken he hasn't had a single issue since. And again this outcome is rather common.

Chances are she'll be just fine, especially with your help and support. Good luck and God bless.

You're welcome of course. I should have clarified that my father is now 72 by the way and no recurrences of any sort, although he does feel that losing his thyroid has taken some of his energy levels down.

Obviously hers could be a bit further along or otherwise different in some way, but chances are at least that if you caught it in time she will come through essentially unscathed.

If caught early, it's one of the few cancers with 100% cure rates.Even if not caught early, can usually be treated with very high cure rates. She will be on thyroid replacement for life, which does present its own challenges to be sure, but life (generally) goes on.

I wish you and she well. ;)

Can't think of a much more difficult thing to deal with than having a wife, mother, daughter, or sister get diagnosed with cancer. I'll certainly keep Amanda, and the rest of your family in my thoughts and prayers brother.

If you guys have to come to Bham for any Dr. visits, and should need anything at all, please don't hesitate to hit me up.

Is she scheduled to go on medication or anything? Or is it too early?

I hope you're doing well too, Ryan.

Yes, I think some of these threads would be terrible to lose, the antis really should read them.

Thank you very much Smuckatelli, I remember Tomas from following Andy's thread, that is awesome he is doing so well. It amazes me the fortitude these kids have, they are inspirations. The mental and physical toughness required to beat such a Goliath at such a young age must be off the charts.

Good to hear that Tomas is back to enjoying life as he should always have been buddy.

And another prayer headed for Amanda. Maybe we can't collectively fix firearm issues here at will, but sometimes maybe we can help fix people a little.

This is the lesson of the day, so many small things taken for granted. The small day to day things that slip by unnoticed, it's a blessing to realize what you have before it's gone.

Thank you for the prayers T2C, they are much appreciated.

That's the truth. She came out of the first doctors office in tears, the ENT specialist (who also put the Ti plate in my jaw) had her feeling much much better about things.

She is scheduled for surgery April 5th.

That's a shame. Especially in his sector of the field. I'm fine with a trauma/ER doc being that way but one that has to consult with patients a lot needs to be polished around the edges. JMO.

That's great, laughter goes a long way! My wife's anesthetist was the same way...had all of us cracking up :)

I was thinking of you guys a couple days ago and wondering how things were going. Thanks for the update and great to hear y'all found a good doctor to help you guys through this.

Nothing worse when you go to a doctor and expect them to be a source of knowlege and reason on a subject only to find them a negative person with no outlook for possibility or hope. Trust me I've been there when I was extremely ill a few years ago...had to kick a couple of them out of my room ;)

Praying for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for you guys :)

Ryan I just found this after you posted in my thread about Mom.
Your wife reminds me of my wife - tough as nails, has outshot me a few times, and still a mean cook :)

Amanda will beat this. We'll keep y'all in our thoughts and prayers brother.

Yes sir, she will. Thank you, we will do the same.

I aint admitting she has out shot me, at least not right now....:D

Glad to see this thread hit front page again.

I hope all is well.

Thank you Magic, all is well and pray the same for you.

That is truly awesome Ryan.

You've got a keeper in her as well. :D

-Jax

Thank you Jax!

Thanks guys!

Update, the biopsy results came back. 15 tumors were found and tested, only one 3mm tumor came back cancerous.

Doc says we are in the clear!

Thank you all so much.

Great news Ryan. Just as with our friend AC it would appear evident that she is going to be with us for a long time to come. Hopefully it makes for an even more memorial Memorial Day weekend for all of you. Even if it's raining there. :)

That is tremendous news! I am so very glad for you both.

It must feel like a very real weight has been lifted from your shoulders. I wish you both many more years of happiness to celebrate such good news.

F-ing outstanding. I have been in the receiving end of such things personally, so I know what that's like. Wishing you well from afar.

You guys are the best, thank you all!

She would have posted in the thread herself, but lacks GD privileges :D.

She read this thread 3-4 times the day of the surgery.

The power of encouragement by great people is not to be underestimated, I believe the power of prayer is self evident.

Ryan, I talked to Tomas about this, he doesn't want to pull Amanda off of the prayer list but he is extremely happy that he doesn't have to move her up to the 'watch over us' list. ;)

He said that you have to throw her a super off treatment party.

Thank you sir! Tomas is an inspiration, these kids are the men I aspire to be.

I told Jay over at wedealinlead that my prayer list is like a bad tattoo, once on it just stays ... :D

Thank you 68!

I hope so too, seen some pretty awesome, no miraculous stories of illness to wellness here, gotta be unprecedented.

I haven't been on M4C much lately, (will start doing so again soon) and don't have the time to read this thread, but is Amanda doing well?

(Did I get her name right?)
