Seriously?! I guess I thought that was common knowledge. But yeah, that flag thing is BS.

There are many people I know in our area who refused to patronize Citgo stations just because of Chavez. They'd drive several miles out of their way just to get gas as most of our gas stations are Citgos.

I have refused to use Citgo gas years ago when I found out that the gas mostly came from Venezuela. The flag should not be flown at half staff for this brutal dictator.

To be fair, it's done all the time regardless of any Presidential order being issued or not. I remember some flags at half mast when Dale Earnhardt died.

The only times it makes a difference is when we are talking about flags that are NOT on private property.

Citgo Petroleum Corporation (or Citgo) is a United States–incorporated, Venezuela-owned refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America, Inc., an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of Venezuela. The company has its headquarters in the Energy Corridor area of Houston, Texas.

A company I used to work for flew their flag at half mast when an employee died in a car accident.

Don't like Citgo, don't buy it. I'm sure you can give your money to an honest and upstanding oil company out there. :D

On talk radio and the web...this Citgo flag flap is getting tons of play.

The Houston Citgo office is being pounded by people that disagree in their action.

I knew that would not fly here. Maybe in some blue hell state...but not Texas.

Exactly. there is plenty of stuff to blame the president for, but blaming him for a flag flown at half mast on private property is a little rich.
I work for a large (100,000 plus employee company). Our flags fly at half staff when employees die, when service people from the local area are killed...

Speaking of Venezuelan oil, that's going to be an interesting subject to follow with Chavez gone.

The POTUS is sending a delegation to Venezuela for Chavez' funeral, seriously.

It's all about the oil, fellas...

Venezuela has it. Our "Seven Sisters" want unhindered access to it.

Would not wish to have lived under his rule but I am not exactly elated sitting where I am now - and neither are most of you...
