Hey Honu

I've been watching "Locked up abroad" on Netflix instant. Its intense. Stories of people smuggling drugs, and how they get busted and sent to prison. The actual persons narrating, all over a well done reenactment. Its crazy.

If you have Netflix theres a lot of great stuff on there. The older 80s' show Miami Vice is on it too. I'm about to start watching that soon.

Also "Whale Wars"

For movies check out "The Grey". Its very depressing & violent, but excellent.

Honu
03-12-13, 23:52
Yeah like that locked up show also :)
Interesting to see how many are kinda dumb to fall into the trap ! :)

I have a lot of old 80s and other shows recorded
Have a media server about 12 TB so far from Hogans Heros to Ba Ba Blacksheep and a few other loved the old wild wild west and such also :)

Recently been also liking some BBC shows as they have a differen slant sometimes :)

I just started watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix. I had never seen it before, but it is worth it for the Ron Swanson character.

I can rarely sit down for a full movie due to work, so a funny TV show in the background is nice.

ETA: I just also started Miami Vice at the beginning of season 1 on NF. I am a fan of the 80's but that show still really holds up IMO. Pretty good action for something of that era. Probably due to Michael Mann's involvement.

Shows:

SOA (behind on current season)
Justified (so far behind it is not funny, I have only seen the first season, my favorite though)
Walking Dead (behind on current season)
Pysch (don't even know if it is still on but it is a funny show)
Surviving the Cut (I have only seen a few but good)

Movies:

Act of Valor (outstanding)
End of Watch (pretty good)
A Good Day to Die Hard (can't go wrong with pro 2nd Willis)
The Bourne Legacy (much better than the garbage Damon ones)
The Dark Knight Rises (love it)
Killer Joe (didn't think it was a comedy but turned out funny)
Lawless (good)
Trouble With the Curve (Chuck who?)

What I am digging right now.

The Americans isn't bad so far
The Neighbors is actually funny
Justified has stepped it up a notch in plot

I go by Rotten Tomatoes and Sniper's Hide Movie forum before I watch most movies

Really? I think that makes the show even more interesting. It is one of my favorite TV shows to date.. its got an original plot and constant unexpected twists and turns...

But each to his own I guess. ;)

shows I am liking is the new Vikings on History

Been watching that and "The Bible" on H.
Jury's still out on Vikings- if it picks up a little, it will be good.
Bible is a good effort, but being botched quite badly. As usual....

waiting for Strike Back new season !!!
Hell on Wheels

Have to say- after the last two or three seasons, Strike Back has really grown on me. Can't wait till a new season, and hopefully another free Cinemax preview channel. :p

Hell on wheels was awesome first season- wish they'd just replay the second already, dammit!

So anyone have other shows that they are liking ?

On TV? No. Everything is either dumb, or dumber.
And I'm about 6 months behind on movies, so I can't help you there.
That being said, if you haven't already seen it, the new Total Recall was pretty good.
Also, a slightly older show (that was cancelled due to bullshit) that I liked was Human Target. I'm sure a lot of folks would think it was lame, but it was, imho, a solid show (although it started going downhill midway through season 2) and had a nice touch of humor as well.

....

WW? :fie::bad:

I'll second Netflix- a couple friends have it and apparently everything on earth is on there.
It's ironic how many of the old shows are STILL better than the new stuff.... Especially when it comes to sitcoms. Ugh.....

Ah- speaking of which- if you've never watched The Dick Van Dyke show, hunt it down and watch it- there's 5 seasons. It's hilarious, and to date the ONLY old black and white-era sitcom that's actually still current and funny.

Honu

Agree most things are dumb or dumber :) these days
Have to grab new total recall forgot about that :)

If anything abc nbc cbs shows mostly suck
A&E history etc.. those kinda channels are making better shows :)

Also like Burn Notice :)

Some prime cable show and hbo have great stuff
Band of Brothers all time epic !

Game of thrones is cool
Bible is good but could have been better ?

Have seen dick van dyke shows :)

Fantastic for old TV shows, not too great for movies (watch it now, at least). Yes, Dick Van Dyke is still really funny. They also have awesome stuff like the old Alfred Hitchcock Show, and the old BW Twilight ZOne. I'm a "young" guy, but to me that stuff beats the shit out of the garbage they call TV now. I haven't paid for cable in eight years, and my decision is solidified every time I watch it.

Yeah I can see how its good in that sense and is/was one of the better for plots and story

Just seems the cheap way out to have things like those two agents on that side in the house to be in on it then the other agent be in on it also considering how recent he was caught and cant see 3 FBI agents out of the same small group at the home being turned that quick ! No way just way to much for me he has way way way to much outside folks and prison logs and such would have shown it ?
The wife ditching the FBI guy so easy and such like prison warden so easily turned The Lawyer being so stupid and the list goes on :)

Had high hopes but for me let me down big time

If it was filmed to be over the top like Burn Notice then I would say OK

I know justified has way more shooting than real marshals do but its done in a way with the story that fits better :)
For me Justified has better writing and storyline for something that could almost be real good guy vs bad guy show :)

Being 49 some stuff for me is memory lane :)

Not sure if you ever saw the old Wild Wild West shows ?
Black sheep squadron was the ba ba blacksheep show :)

Combat from the 60s also fun old tv but typical 60 style :)
Tour of Duty from late 80s

Trying to find sub titled Pod Prikrite
Heard its very good ?
Its coming to the US at some point though :)

Heard the show Prisoners of War from Israel on Hulu now is good for a foreign tv show that 20th bought turned into Homeland
Compare to Homeland which is pretty good for the most part ? Some say the original is better ?
So when ever a remake is done I like to find watch the originals :)

Yeah Band of Brothers I can watch over and over
pacific was good but not like BoB !

A good flick you have to read subtitles from a dif perspective of WWII
Isoroku Yamamoto, The commander in chief of the combined fleet
Japanese movie but liked it for a WWII flick !
Not best movie but I love all things WWII so purely for the point of being a film done about Yamamoto from their perspective its good to watch

I don't watch 'regular' TV anymore and I really don't know why.

Sorry for the fans of SOA but I can't stand the show. As well as those who wear the wannabe OMG shirts/sweatshirts/hats. I've quickly learned these people actually think their bad asses. Kind of like that mall ninja....

After reading this thread I realized I only watch:

ESPN (when the fiancée isn't home)

History Channel

Discovery

NatGeo

Military History stuff. And it depends on what it's on. Usually skip on 'black ops' 'inside whatever elite forces' episodes.

Since I have a 7 1/2 year old son, 13 month old son and another on the way I tend to watch:

Phineas and Ferb

Fish Hooks

Gravity Falls

Jake and the Neverland Pirates

Little Einsteins

I know the descendants of the Morgans :) when I lived in the Bay islands his direct family still lives there so kinda cool in a way ! Utila was home to a few pirates in history and can say I have met some :)

yeah I think we are alike on watching regular TV ? dont find to much that great
also I tend to record the shows or get them without commercials after airing

Ok I get the "Afghanistan Chapter."

What I don't get is why someone would wear a fake OMG shirt/sweatshirt with a bottom rocker of their home state riding down the street on their bike.

Having seen firsthand what a wrong move and wrong cut in the wrong area will do to people, it makes me cringe.

That's all. I still don't like the show. I watched it for a bit but interest fell off around mid second season-ish.

What breaks the suspension of disbelief for me is that they are in kommiefornia, all carry concealed illegally, all have mags over 10 rds, and most carry silencers illegally too. If the popo or feds wanted to shut down the gang, it would be easy to give them all felonies for that shit.

But it's still not bad of a tv show. But I def agree that wearing a cut, even a fictional one, is something you only do when you know what you're doing. Although I think the show is popular enough now that you wouldnt get into too much trouble.

for me its once they jumped in the make fun of Sarah Palin in the hospital room or where ever they were ? season 2 I think ?

yeah sorry cant see hard core bikers really making fun of her ? could see them saying they would love to do other things :)

but not some lefty joke they said

again to me once shows do stupid things like what they did that are agenda driven crap I loose interest keep the political crap out of shows please :)

SOA is good enough to watch for me. Don't agree or like everything but it isn't horrible. As for people riding a bike with a SOA cut is probably not the smartest thing to do. I can see someone wearing the t-shirts and sweatshirts and stuff casually. Actually trying to look like a biker with SOA gear is a different story.

Game of Thrones on HBO GO.

I actually like HBO GO better than Netflix, and it comes with a paid HBO cable subscription. They update their shows quickly, and they have every series HBO has done on there including Band of Brothers. If you have cable it would be worth it just to pay for it for a month just to watch all that stuff. Buying the series of all the stuff on there would be thousands of dollars.

Justified
Southland
Sons of Anarchy

Archer
Bones
The Mentalist

I had hope for The Following but it's getting too silly to hold my interest.

For those of you with Netflix, there are about 100 Top Gear UK episodes there.

If you haven't seen the "challenges" (ex: race from London to Switerland, one guy in a Ferarri, two guys taking anything but cars to get there first), then give it a shot. You'll like it, even if you aren't a car guy.

In no particular order:

Justified
Breaking Bad
Inside Combat Rescue
Tac TV
Tactical Arm/Impact(when they show reruns)
The Americans
Southland
Vikings
SOA
Strike Back
Dexter
Various true crime shows on Investigation Discovery
Dateline
48 Hours Mystery

Fellow gun enthusiasts on M4C, I may get banned for this, at least an infraction of some type, and deservingly so but I admit to sometimes watching Once upon a Time with my wife and daughter.

I got your back man, my wife and daughters watch it every Sunday so I watch it with them. It isn't that bad. After that they go to bed & the wife & I watch the Walking Dead.

Am I the only one that loves The Big Bang Theory?

I also like
The Universe on History
Modern Family

The shows i watch seem pretty typical around here

Game of Thrones
Walking Dead
Breaking Bad
Southland
Tac TV
Inside Combat Rescue (Freaking Awesome)
(seen every episode of all of them)

Ones that i really enjoy that might not be typical for gun guys are

Being Human
House of Cards - (REALLY good political show, on netflix)
Downton Abbey - (a little gay, i know)
Dual Survival - (i've trained with cody, and am psyched he has an honorable co-host now)

Sometimes i watch Doomsday Preppers because i had a mentor on there on season one. I keep hoping there will be some knowledgable folks on there, but it rarely happens. The guy who shot his thumb off, and the guy who threw up after being near an AR with a flashhider without ear pro, was so funny- it was worth my time.

Pretty much in order and the only none sports, news, documentary tv I watch......

Justified... (best show on television)
Burn Notice
Ultimate Fighter (the only "reality show I watch)
Dexter
Breaking Bad
Walking Dead, though its sliding off my list rapidly, I still watch it to see where they go with it.

Shows I dearly miss.........
Jericho
Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis
Chicago Code (how they could shut that down, I don't understand)
24 (except season 6 which sucked)
Top Shots

Last exceptional movies I've seen
Dark knight Rises
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Dark Knight

Very Disappointing Movie : Skyfall, yet consider Casino Royale the best Bond movie ever, edging out Goldfinger.

Doc Safari
03-13-13, 10:21
Longmire
Falling Skies
My Ghost Story: Caught on Camera
Ghost Mine
Sid Roth's It's Supernatural
High Chaparral reruns on one of the religious channels

Most of the "ghost hunter" shows are nothing but a bunch of idiots walking around in the dark saying, "Did you hear that?" Really. But Ghost Mine is different: I got in on the middle of the series and it's interesting for the fact that they accidentally discovered a sealed gold mine. The paranormal stuff is the usual "meh."

My Ghost Story: Caught on Camera has viewer-submitted evidence, so there are a lot of questionable videos sent in. But there's a lot of good stuff that looks like it would have been hard to fake IMHO.

Used to watch:

Burn Notice (got to be too contrived after a while)
Walking Dead (my satellite service dropped that channel for a while and by the time they got it back I had lost interest)

Had high hopes for but couldn't stomach:

Best movies I've seen recently:

Ive been impressed with The Americans on FX.
Looking forward to watching Justified, never seen any of it.

I watched a movie I really liked thats not new, but I just had missed it.
It was The Proposition with Guy Pearce, very good.

Netflix - Black Death with Sean Bean was a good watch.

Top Gear budget is reported to be over a million a show these days. Everything in that show is very well done. The thing that makes it Top Gear are James, Jeremy, and Richard. Seeing them practice "drive by's" and seeing them at Bonneville or in the South you realize that they are M4C'ers at heart. Jeremy is a staunch opponent of the British Socialist Machine and has a lot of enemies. He also lives in an old lighthouse which is awesome in my book.

I like a show where grown men and grown man toys don't need to be PC. In that category, Top Gear reigns supreme.

As for current offerings, all I make time for (got to love DVRs) is:

The Walking Dead
Justified
Combat Rescue
Vikings
Dual Survival
Falling Skies

I would watch Larry's shows provided I got that channel. I need to start Archer but will have to Netflix the series so I can catch up. The Americans look good but just don't want to devote to yet another series to follow. Here nothing but good things about Strike Back but I don't subscribe to HBO.

Finally watched Company of Heroes

BAD does not begin to describe it
Beyond inaccurate
Stupid stunts crappy effects
Worst color grading
Way to many flare shots trying to be trendy does not work with WWII flicks
Whats up with the mad max leg brace on the Nazi ?

Gave up watching it which is rare for me sadly as it had some actors I like in it ?

Then read some reviews and heard more stupid stuff so glad I quit :) sad I had to though as I love WWII flicks
Tend not to read reviews before movies but will look at ratings quickly to get an idea
