I need some aggressive grips for my 1911s that I take with me when hunting. My hands usually end up wet and muddy from crossing through creeks and crawling through thick brush. Which grips from vz would fit the bill? I've had the operator 2 grips and they were great but I want something more aggressive.

Opinions will vary on this i am sure.
My experience is that the diamondbacks, which some claim are agressive, are slippery while also being painful. I hate them. Others love them.

The tactical diamonds are my favorite aggressive grips. The smaller diamonds offer more bite or traction while also being less objectionable than the larger diamonds of the diamondbacks. However the recons would probably rate more aggressive. My advice would be to order a couple sets and see for yourself. Sell the grips that don't measure up.

The grips on my trp's are basically diamondbacks but they're made by Larry Davidson I believe so those are out. I'm very interested in the recons and the gunners.

my aliens pulled a knife on me, I thought that was kind of aggressive.

Not sure any of their grips are more aggressive than the Recons.

I think the only difference between the recons and gunners is the thumb relief cut for easier access to the mag release.

I've actually had to file down my operator 2 grips a little. Rubbed my support hand palm raw after a couple hundred rounds..

If you want aggressive 1911 grips check out VCD grips, they are awesome.

I think the VZ repro Gunner grips are the most aggressive of the VZ line.

These are by far the most aggressive G10 1911 grips I have ever used.

You can find them without the 10-8 logo. You sand them until you have the purchase you need.

These are John Harrison's new grips on my Vickers Full-House and I really like them. Aggressive and the relief cuts work very well locking the gun into your hand.

I'll second the 10-8 grips, they leave a nice waffle pattern on your palms after shooting.

I got a set of Operator II. They came so aggressive I had to hit them with some emery to break the sharp points. still locks the gun solid in my hand.

I have soft baby butt hands and the texture on the set of gunners I picked up feel great and don't dig up my hands at all - firing up to 300 rounds in a range trip. It might just be the previous owner sanded them a little- don't know but did not feel as aggressive as I expected

I've thought about the 10-8 grips but they never have the ones I want in stock. I will be getting the black ones for my non railed trp.

I still think the Gunners are the best. VZ now makes them.

I've been waiting for them to come back in stock for a while now. They did a few months ago, right when I was in the middle of a snowboarding trip.

Last I heard was about 8 weeks out, this was about a week or so ago.

I just picked these up. They are not as aggressive as the 10-8's but still have a good feel.

The Recons on my Springfield are really aggressive.

LarryD's chaos pattern is really really grippy. grippier than skatetape. these are fantastic with slick sweaty palms.
you can have him cut shredder grooves into them as well, which are similar to the vertical grooves on the harrisons... but in a scored offset '#' pattern.

(i know the OP said VZ but i have to give props to Larry)

the chaos pattern (and shredder grooves) arent really 'cool' looking but theyre a fantastic grip.

heres the chaos pattern without the big grooves. these are superthin (think TRS thin) grips and cant have those deep shredder grooves in them:

According to the Website, the Diamonds backs are the most aggressive.
"We have had numerous requests for an aggressive 1911 grip for the tactical members and weekend match goers. Something with a little bite. This is what we came up with. A big old nasty 5 dpi (diamond per inch) grip, made in both Micarta and G10. The Diamond Backs are by far the most aggressive grips we produce. We wouldn't recommend them for all day carry, but some do and swear by them."https://vzgrips.com/gun-grips/1911/diamond-backs

I still think the Gunners are the best. VZ now makes them.

THe original gunners were the best by far in terms of aggressiveness. The new ones just aren't the same. Close though.

A friend of mine has the NHC GRP with Diamond Backs on it, They are too aggressive for me without gloves on. It is AWEFUL for CC without something between the grips and your skin, and will eat up your seats or jacket or whatever soft they contact when sitting in a vehicle or just walking with your over garment over them. They seem more suited for duty use to me

Highly recommend 10-8 grips- If I recall correctly they're made by VZ. 5 lines per inch is very abrasive and I wouldn't have it any other way :)

I don't have the most experience with other grips, but I found the Ergo XTR 1911 grips to have a pretty aggressive texture. They aren't softer like the AR grips they produce and hold in the hand very well in my experience. I know it's not VZ, but it's another option to possibly consider.
