What are you planning to do with the rifle? Will it be carried in the field, or is it just going to be shot off a bench? You need to give more details about your intended use before anyone can give you advice.

I will be carring the weapon in field 30 % time as well as bench shooting 70 % of the time

I think 2.5 lbs. is just about right, that's what I have mine set at.

2.5# or 3# is where i would set it. Where you might be packing it i wouldnt go any less than 2.5#.
