Returning to the AR scene after not doing much with my rifles for a couple years. I've owned a number of a M4's in the past but this will be the first build in a while. Just got my new upper from Noveske. It's a Infidel 13.7" mounted on a Vltor VIS with 12" rails. It has the KX3 flash hider permanently installed which brings it to over 16".

I asked around at many shops to do this upper configuration, and John at Noveske came through, building and shipping it for me on the same day. Excellent service. And unlike a few of the other shops I contacted, John actually replies to emails. :D Big plus. I say if you don't want to provide customer service via e-mail, then don't advertise it.

Right now I have it sitting on my old Bushmaster lower and will be adding new parts as I can afford them. Here is the planned mods for this stick:

Aimpoint CompM4 w/LaRue mount (on the way)
Aimpoint 3xMag w/LaRue pivot mount
H buffer
Magpul UBR stock (whenever they become available)
Magpul MIAD grip
Magpul Mags (Thermold for display purposes only) ;)
Timney trigger (on order)
Surefire M910A
Flip-up BUIS
The usual ladder rail covers & ergonomics

Nice start!

I'll take that stock when you are through with it. That is, if it fits mil spec receiver extensions.

Nice weapon.

I like your choice of components but I would reconsider the Timney trigger.

If you plan on taking classes with it or use it as home defense weapon I would leave stock trigger in there.

My $0.02

Nice carbine! I have always like the Noveske Infidel upper, and the VLTOR VIS. Both companies make outstanding products.

I've got to do something about this stock trigger... It's a grinding, jerky, crunchy, unpredictable load of donkey dung. :)

RRA Two stage is nice, crisp, and cheap.

looking good. i have several of john's guns and they shoot extremely well. my only suggestion at this point would be to save up a couple hundred and replace the lower with one of John's own lowers.

Looks good.

IMO, you're going to want to move that Surefire M910a out further on your rail.

Love the Rifle, I hove heard that they are real shooters, this true? How much do you have in the build, anything you would do different I only ask cause I want to build my own Infidel cause I can't afford to buy one in whole.

Why don't you like the Timney? No plans to use it for home defense, mostly shooting at the range and in the backcountry. I may take some classes.

I see you got the Timney too. Crisp, clean and short, no creep and if you're worried about the springs, they will send you the stronger AR-10 springs. Not that it would matter for a good home defense round which wouldn't have a hardened primer anyway. I can only go by the ~500 rounds of LC XM193 I've put through it with the Timney so far but I've had 0 light strikes.

By looks alone that rifle is worth the money, funny how my wife doesn't see it that way. Anyways thanks for the inspiration to spend all that money!

My advice: I don't ask how much she spends on purses and shoes, she doesn't ask about the guns... ;)

Great looking rifle! It looks front heavy, can you post the weight.

I told my wife that I would stop buying black rifles when she stops buying black shoes. Enough said.

Once your past 4 or 5 ARs, you can just tell her that they are just new grips, or and old one. Can you tell all her shoes apart?

Well I guess I am lucky or unlucky how ever you want to look at it. My wife doesn't like shoes, for her it is craft crap. How do I disguise a $2500 rifle, that is alot of craft stuff. But I am buying it in parts right now, a lot easier and since I am at 3 AR's I can get away with the grips and stuff idea. Straying away from topic, but still a beautiful build. By the way I know someone who will have Noveske lowers in soon. Contact me for more info.

" I'm a little afraid to add everything up, but I'll estimate that I probably will have about $3500 to $4000k into the rig by the time it's done."

Yes you will aside from the UBR and I have a OTAL in front of my M4 its identical to the build up Grant did for me a year ago ...in fact I am going to look in the safe to see thats its still there ... sweet aint it ?

If you get a chance to shoot at 2 or shoot some premo ammo thru her let me know of you don't mind. I am hoping at 100 she should shoot 1 MOA or better. I say hoping cause I am looking to buy the same upper.

phoric, it looks beautiful. I'm thinking of putting the 12'' vis on a 14.5'' or 16'' barrel myself. Just a tad afraid of being front heavy.

TriggerTX
06-02-08, 22:48
Man, I ordered a second 14.5 and a 10.5 inch barrel, the 10.5 being a VIS upper. And well I talked to Noveske and its gonna be 6 weeks or so.....

I guess I can just stare at your VIS for now.

Awesome build, phoric. I've got two questions...

1) Whereabouts are you in WA? I'm on the eastside of the lake.
2) Where the **** did you get a UBR?

Where the hell is anyone getting their UBRs, for that matter??

Grant (GandRTactical) has the black ones in now. I got mine when Magpul did a limited release earlier (they sold out in less than two days).

Ha! I've looked around myself with no luck. You might call Denny with GTS, he told me last week tat he should have some this week.

Prolly everyone you see with one were the guys that bought within the first batch of everyones stock. The second wave is coming.

Lucky you are.
I can wait though, the Afghan barrel is for a team mate and the VIS is for myself. I already have plenty of guns to keep me entertained till delivery.

Awesome rig. Eastside +1. :)

06-03-08, 11:51
Thanks. I'm in the eastside also.. Perhaps we are neighbors.

I got my UBR from AIM Surplus, before they sold out a couple of days ago. Only $0.01 shipping, and AIM's service is outstanding. A lot of people, myself included, have been waiting for these for a couple of years, and I imagine they will continue to sell out quickly over the next few months... You have to check with the dealers daily and keep your finger on the Buy button. :p

Glad to hear there's other people around here.

I had Grant at G&R put me on a notification list... hopefully I'll be able to snag one when the next shipment comes in.

I've got my clicking finger poised and ready.

hey phoric, quick question... what's the total length of your infidel from the tip of the kx3 to the end of your UBR?
