I have always been of the impression that Leupys are made and assembled in the US of A. But I have heard recently that the Riflemen scopes are made in or have components made in the PRC. Any truth to this?

Yes some were and may possibly may still be made there. The factories making there scopes cloned them out.

According to Leupold, all their golden ring products are made right here in the USA, the green ring products from over yonder.

The reason I asked was that I have seen some talk about Leupold clones showing up on e-bay. There they were supposedly cheap copies of Leupold's.

I was wondering how they got a hold of Leupold...had to be that Leupold had some parts made over there and that is how the cloners got a hold of the Leupold products.

I thought I read recently that Leupold was sued over them marking their boxes "made in the USA" as the majority of the components in their optics are made and assembled out of the country.

I will try and dig this info up.
