View Full Version : Eezox: safe on chrome-lined barrels?

I know some solvents should be avoided on chrome-lined barrels (high-ammonia concentrations, especially), and I was wondering if anyone knew if Eezox is one of them? Or more specifically, the solvent in Eezox: TCE?

Not looking for any comparisons, arguments, or debates about gun lubes/cleaners/solvents here. Just a simple question: is Eezox safe on chrome?

I've been using Eezox since 1994 on chrome plated guns (exterior) and all kinds of barrels without incident. The solvent is TCE which so far as I know is harmless to chrome at least as used in Eezox. Eezox does not contain any ammonia type compounds.

This info is from the man who originally formulated Eezox who I spoke with in 1996. He was a retired chemist who worked in the petroleum industry.

Awesome. Thank you very much! I'll continue using it, in that case.
