Well I have had an AAC SPR/M4 can since 2008 that has had maybe 500 rounds through it. I just didn't care for adding the weight and length on a 16" gun, I ended up getting an SBR two years ago but was rocking a factory MK18 upper. Well today with the help of my buddy ASH556 we took a factory DD 12.5" bbl with fsp and modified the FSP into a lo pro and mounted the barrel to create this.

Lower is a factory SBR KAC, has micro t1 in dd mount, light mount is off but is a iwc/haley mount with a fury, b5 sopmod stock, bcm gunfighter ch and grip, dd mk18 ris rail, dd fixed buis, bfg vickers sling, etc.

That looks great! I have a DD 12.5 gun and it is crazy accurate and is a great reduction in sound form my 10.3 with my Mini4. I can only imagine how much quieter yours is with that SPR M4.
How much shorter/longer is it than a standard 16 inch carbine with the can attached?
Great job!

thanks man, couldn't have done it without Ash556's skills. It is or should be right at 16" with the can attached.

It's good to have friends like that!
I just built my friend a rifle with the exact same components as yours. He can't see the red dot with a front or rear sight because of an eye surgery so I used cheaper Magpul front and rear sights and I put a Battlecomp on it with an A5 receiver extension. Same stock and BCM grip. I can say that this rifle handles great. I never had any of the RIS II hand guards but I really like them.
Again, great job man!

Karma this is pretty much the exact setup I'm going for once my NFA paperwork clears except I'll have a different can. Sweet setup. I've shot quite a bit through a 10.5" Mk18 upper and it was enough to convince me that 12.5" is the way to go. It looks like that barrel length is a great match with your SPR can. I especially like the fixed BUIS. I already have the DD barrel and other parts ready to go. I'd be interested to hear details on how it runs and if you end up tweaking it in any way.

This set up will not change as far as optics, stock, etc. unless some game changer stuff come out as the main controls and do far are a culmination of 6 years of figuring what works lol. Yeah ASH and me used to be on par with skills but he has surpassed me and has tools lol. Only think that would change is ditching the suppresor and going kino or just plain 12.5".

Very nice set up. I am a huge fan of the 12.5" barrel.

Excellent looking rifle! I wish a RIS II rail would work with a 12.5 barrel.

wicked. who's handstop is that?

Have both a KAC as well as Gear Sector.

Neither provide me with enough purchase.

I'll let the OP chime in but it looks like a IWC rail mount to me.

OP, good looking upper man!

Do you mean the 12 inch RIS II?
If so it will.

You need the GL/SSC length RISII, which is very rare.

Just use a LaRue 11.0...that is what I do...:D

I forget sometimes that most people don't use suppressors and can partially cover their muzzle devices.

Doc, current plan is an 11.5 Centurion with 10" LaRue rail.

I run one on 2 of my AR's including an 11.5". It is an awesome silencer and yours is a wonderful rifle.

Yeah, I figured it could work. It doesn't really look like you could run a suppressor though. I read some where that the RIS II 12" is more like 12.3"(would be cool if someone could confirm), so I am not really sure of a mount that would work for that.

I would have to have one in my hand but the clearance on this may be able to accept a Blackout and it just may thread on. It would be very close. There is a little bit of a gap between the back of the Blackout or breakout before the 51 teeth that it may catch the suppressor.

Thanks guys the handstop is a Danger Close aka Jon Canipe before he went to Magpul. I know he sold the company but you can still get them at grey group, my other gun has the IWC which I like and has more purchase than the gear sector and KAC (I've used all of them).

Wow, I just now saw this thread. Thanks for all the props, bro! I have to say, this is a sexy setup. Quality parts + creative imagination + a bit 'o skill = sexy rifle. Glad we were able to work this thing out. What's better is that now your can isn't just sitting in the closet gathering dust. Now we just need to get out to the farm and run it!

Also, RE the handstops, the DangerClose/LowPro is the best on the market for providing lot's of purchase, but small size and weight. You'll see them on my rifles too:

That's a great looking rifle. I have always planned to do the same if I SBR because I too bought the damn SPR/M4 can. Damn thing determines every build I do because of that mount.

Glad to actually see someone do that configuration and like it though
